The second I stepped through the main doors to the castle, I was enveloped in a bone crushing hug from a sobbing James.
"YOU PROMISED!" He wailed into my hair as he tightened his grip on me. "YOU PROMISED YOU'D NEVER LEAVE ME! I THOUGHT YOU'D DIED! AGAIN!" At this point he was incapable to speak, due to his excessive crying.
"I know, I know..." I whispered into his chest. "It hurt... So much..." I whimpered.
I think that was the point when everything finally sunk in. I nearly died today, I thought. And then I completely lost it. Me and James were holding onto each other so tight, I'm surprised neither of us shattered any bones. We sank to the ground, sobs racking our bodies and echoing around the halls.
"James!" Called a voice down the hall, "I can't find her! I've looked everywhere! It's almost like she's disappeared! I don't know wha-" and then Sirius approached us and yelled, "FOUND HER!" At the top if his lungs. And he collapse beside us, joining the hug. We sat there, just holding each other, in reassurance and comfort.
I think James then came to his senses, because at that moment he pulled away and yelled, "WHERE THE BLOODY HELL HAVE YOU BEEN YOUNG LADY!"
"He he... You see, it's kind of a funny story..." I trailed off nervously.
"Well you better get yapping, because I'm not laughing." He scowled. Someone wasn't a happy camper.
"Um..." I was glancing around, trying to find some inspiration for the excuse I was about to make. Something told me I should keep my little 'gift' a secret.
I got nothing. Damn.
And then, as if the heavens had answered my plea, Minni entered the hall, in her emerald robe glory, and said 6 life saving words.
"Professor Dumbledore Wishes to see you."
I nodded quickly to Minni, then turned to James and Sirius, "Later Losers!" And sprinted to Dumbledores office.

I finally stopped running, gasping and out of breath, and looked upon the giant griffin statue, which is the entrance to Dumbledores office.
Crap. I don't know the password. Okay, it always has something to do with sweets or chocolate.
"Chocolate frogs?" No answer. "Bertie Bots every flavour beans?" Silence. "Sherbet Lemon?" Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
The statue have off a loud rumbling noise, and slowly began to rotate, leaving a stone, spiral staircase. I jogged up the steps, and came to a large wooden door. I rapped my knuckles against the wood, knocking three times.
"Come in." Called a voice from the office.
I twisted the handle and pushed open the door to reveal the familiar office, filled to the brim with strange, yet interesting thingy majigs.
"Good afternoon sir!" I chirped to the kind old man, "how are you today?"
"I am quite well thank you." He said with a smile and polite nod. "It is yourself, however, I am more concerned about."
"Oh... He he, you heard about that?" I laughed nervously. I wasn't sure how Dumbledore would react to a mermaid attending Hogwarts.
"Hmm" he agreed. "Although one does hear stories..." He trailed off. "And however much a brilliant witch you are, Rosalie," dang, the full name? "I doubt you would have the ability to apparate, let alone in a school with many wards in place to make it impossible to apparate it disapparate." He informed me. "I was merely wondering how you managed it." He explained with a kind smile.
Crap. How am meant to explain this?
"It's kind of a long story..." I mumbled.
"We've got time." He informed me kindly.
"Well, this morning me and James were swimming in the lake, like we used to," we both laughed at the memories of me and James pretending to be Olympic Swimmers," and I heard this voice, it was the giant squid, but I didn't know that at the time, so I was shocked and I gasped!" Dumbledore had an expression of curiosity plastered on his face. "But nothing happened, so I went up to the surface, and I found James, who was currently sobbing his heart out because he thought I'd died... He's a bit overprotective..." Dumbledore chuckled. "Anyway, I explained to him what had happened, then he said he was going to go inside, but I wanted to stay out a bit longer, so I did." I paused, and Dumbledore gestured for me to continue.
"After thinking for a little while, I saw a girl in trouble across the lake, so I dove in to try and help her. Once I had approached, I saw that she was stuck in the rocks, and being attacked by a Grindylow, so I attacked it, then went to go and free her legs, only, she didn't have legs. She had a tail. I helped to free her anyway, and she invited me to meet her parents, as a thank you for saving her life." I decided not to mention the names of them, just incase. "In the end, her father decided to give me the blessing, so I became part mermaid, so I could still live on the surface.
I told them I should go, as people may be worried, so I went back to school and met James and Sirius just before transfiguration. We then went to our final lesson, charms, which was when I had an attack. The mermaids had forgotten to warn me, that since I was still part mermaid, I have to drink a lot of water. I had become dehydrated, and was drying up. I needed water, and fast." I looked up to see Dumbledore on the edge of his seat with curiosity. "I heard the voices of the mermaids, calling me to the lake, so I grasped my pendant, which I got when I fist transformed, and willed myself to the lake. I was okay, so I came back to find James having a panic attack. And here we are!" I finished. Dumbledore was speechless. Boom! I just made Dumbledore speechless!
