Hermione and Scorpius woke up around 9 in the morning the next day. Sue and Meg let them stay with them until Hermione could get a place for Scorpius and her to stay. They also let Hermione work at the book shop for a little extra money.
After showering and getting ready for the day, Hermione sat behind the counter where the cash register was as Scorpius sat on it. The counter was in the back of the store behind four different bookshelves. There was also a small lounge back there where Scorpius and her had slept that night. Only a few costumers came in and bought a couple books that morning, it definitely wasn't the busiest shop in that small town. Hermione was talking to Scorpius when Meg came downstairs. "You're from London, aren't you?"
"I am," Hermione smiled.
"You know, the bar owner, Drake, is also from London. He's about your age, maybe you know him?" Meg suggested.
"Drake Marshall?" Hermione guessed jokingly.
"Yes, so you do know him?" Meg asked.
"Oh, no. It was just a guess," Hermione spoke but her heart skipped a beat.
"Well I think you would look quite cute together," Meg stated. "Any interest in dating?"
"Oh, that's quite alright. I'm not looking for a relationship right now," Hermione smiled.
"Yeah, I suppose Drake is still hung up on his ex girlfriend. He used to never stop talking about her. He moved here to protect her from his old sort of gang he was in. Broke his heart leaving cause she was pregnant. Her name was Hailey," Meg explained.
"Hailey Grant?" Hermione guessed again.
"Yes. So you do know them then," Meg said.
"No. No, I can't," she said before beginning to talk mostly to herself. "It's not possible."
"What's not possible?" Meg asked. Hermione glanced at Scorpius and saw him daydreaming rather than listening to their conversations so she continued.
"My boyfriend- or ex boyfriend I guess, used to joke about moving to America and changing our names, his name would be Drake Marshall and mine would be Hailey Grant until we got married," Hermione explained.
"Really? That happened to you two?" Meg asked.
"He went missing. The night I had scorpius. The police said he got taken by the old gang he used to hangout with. They never found his body so I always refused to except that he was dead, but it's been four years."
"Oh, that's horrible, but that does sound awfully like Drake's story. But maybe it's just a coincidence. Except.... Scorpius does look a lot like him and Drake moved here four years ago," Meg finished before walking between the book shelves. Hermione looked back at Scorpius and bit her lip. She kept thinking about it until the bell on the door sounded. She looked up and saw Rose emerge from one of the bookshelves. "Wow," Scorpius mumbled before jumping off the counter. "Hi, I'm Scorpius Malfoy," he greeted.
"Hello, I'm Rose Brown," Rose blushed.
"You're very beautiful, Rose," Scorpius spoke as he kissed her hand.
"Thank you," Rose blushed.
Meg had come back from behind the bookshelves and saw her daughter with Scorpius and smiled. "Looks like they're getting along."
"Yes, Scorpius gets more and more like his father every day," Hermione laughed.
"Do you think you'll be staying in Meadowshore for awhile?" Meg asked.
"Probably, or at least until I find out what was pulling me here, but I'm definitely going back to England before Scorpius turns 11," Hermione responded.
