"Is there someone at the door?" Maya mumbled, squinting her eyes and staying still, her eyes trained on the boy beside her.

The knocks saved her from answering the his question and it was the greatest escape she could muster.

"Nobody even knows where we live."

"No, but I heard something." Maya got off the bed, making her way out to the living room and putting her hand on the door handle, twisting it open.

Her eyes fixated on another person and for a moment, she was left unmoving.
"Mingyul?" Mouth parted in shock, eyes wide, she stared at her boyfriend with a sweet smile on his face.

"What the fuck are you doing here? Why weren't you answering?"

"I'll explain. Just let me in." He jerked his head up, getting past her into the homey apartment, immediately setting his eyes on Donghyuck who was leaned on the wall with a death glare on his face.

"He's here?" Mingyul asked, rolling his eyes upon seeing the him and the girl walked over to the middle of the room.

"Obviously. He lives here." Maya snapped, crossing her arms defensively as her eyes held anger and betrayal.

"Why are you spending time with that player?" Mingyul started, trying to make a scene when he obviously knew that Donghyuck and Maya couldn't really not spend time together since they were basically under the same roof.

"Cut it, Mingyul. Why are you here?" She snapped lowly, being on the edge of bursting out in shouts.

The boy chuckled humorlesssly, looking down at her with a glint in his eyes.
"I can't even visit my girlfriend anymore?"

She scoffed, shaking her head and crossing her arms. "So now I exist?"

"Don't be like that, it's not like I died." The boy chuckled, trying to get a hold her hips but she moved away.

"You're being a real idiot. Do you think I'm stupid?"

Mingyul groaned, throwing his head back. " May, what are you on about again? Everything you do is overreact, you're so difficult!"

"You're being inconsiderate! You don't know what it's like so don't even dare say anything, Mingyul." She spat out, voice braver and firmer.

"Whatever. I'm just here to say I'm sorry I haven't texted you. I-"

"Are you cheating on me?" She snapped, face staying solemn as she stared into his eyes- knowing he got nervous under her gaze.

"What?" He breathed out. "Cheating on you? Are you serious right now?"

"Yes. Answer me. Are you seeing someone else?" She asked nonchalantly, trying to force a yes.

"Look, it was my sister-"

"You don't have a sister."

Mingyul opened his mouth to speak, setting his eyes on the other boy again, avoiding to answer.
"Why is he still here, tell him to leave."

"So what if he is? It could be obvious to you he would be, it's his fucking house too." She said angrily, narrowing her eyes at the boy.

"Why are you so defensive towards him? He's a douche." Mingyul scoffed, acting out.

"You're a douche, at least he's been a friend to me, there for me-"

"There for you? In what ways?"

"Mingyul-" She sighed, quickly being cut off.

"You know what, forget it. I don't even know why I came. You changed so much since you left May, I don't even know you anymore." The boy shook his head in disappointment as he walked past her to get to the front door again.

"Fine. Don't even bother coming back." Maya said, not turning to look at him, making him stop walking.

"You don't mean that baby. You can't live without me by your side." Mingyul said, turning her body and bringing his fingers up to her chin.
"Without me, you're a nobody."

He stole a quick kiss from her, giving a side eye to Donghyuck.
"What are you looking at."

Donghyuck didn't say anything as Maya wiped her lips, letting out a frustrated sigh. The sound of the door slamming shut indicated that the boy had left.

Maya rubbed her forehead in disbelief and distress, trying to prevent her whimpers that threatened to release themselves from her mouth.

"And he calls himself better than me." Donghyuck scoffed, walking to her side and pulling her into a hug.
"Where did you find an idiot like him?"

The girl chuckled, burying her head into the boys' neck, a few tears soaking his shirt.

"Are you crying?" Donghyuck asked softly, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly.

"No." She sniffled, clinging onto the boy more as he tried to get a glimpse of her face.

Donghyuck brought his hand up to cup it, seeing her glossy eyes and he pressed his lips to her cheek that turned pink.

"It's whatever. I'll get over it." Maya unwrapped herself from his hold, leaving him behind as she strolled back to her room.

The girl found herself being distracted by her thoughts again. Was Donghyuck beginning to be someone who would put such an impact on her life that she wouldn't want to let go?

Most likely.

It felt stupid that she didn't have any control over her emotions and the fact that Donghyuck slipped into her mind often was brutally frustrating.

"Hey." He gained her attention once more, getting to her side and burying his head into her neck. "You shouldn't let him manipulate you like this. You deserve better, doll."

Maya couldn't hold back a sob as she hugged him tighter, grateful for his presence. His cologne brought a reminiscing scent of familiarity and she wanted nothing else but to be wrapped up in his arms for eternity.

"I got you, baby."
