"Hey there." A smooth voice greeted, and the boy leaned against the lockers beside Maya —  making her avert her gaze to his face.

"Hey, you." Maya smiled in confusion, putting her phone away and her palms began to get clammy, a strike of nervousness clutching her heart but she tried to seem collected. "What's up?"

"Go on a date with me?" Jaemin raised his brow for a second before lowering it again, the teasing smirk never leaving his lips.

"I—" Maya breathed out, chuckling.
"I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend." She rejected him, expecting him to become disinterested, which happened not to be the case.

"So what? I thought you might need a husband." He replied smugly, making her go speechless for a minute.

As she finally suppressed another chuckle, she licked her lips and looked at his smiling self.
"We can still hang out, but as friends, Jaemin."

"Damn it, I got rejected and friendzoned." He joked, ruffling his hair and putting his black cap back on.
"But alright. Catch you in break Maya."

Sending another wink her way, she watched as he started walking away, losing himself in the crowd of students.

Shaking her head, she smiled to herself and headed off to the other direction to take her next class — proud that she managed to escape without any embarrassments.

Was it weird that she was already asked on a date only on her first day of trying to normalize her life and get a better future?

Probably a bit weird, but as far as she's heard, Jaemin was like that. Asking out at least half of the girls in school, so was it even surprising at this point?

Making her way to the next class, the girl clutched the folder under her arms — still feeling a bit uneasy about the whole new environment.

Luckily she had a few familiar faces who put her mind at ease, though she felt stiff around them and not exactly being used to it yet, since being shy was one of the problems she needed to live with, but that could only be fixed in a matter of days.

The two were the complete opposites — as so it seemed. Him, such an energetic and confident soul.
Her, not so much.

Watching him laughing in the distance, surrounded by the boys she had met nearly two hours ago, Maya found herself wondering, how could she ever not become shy while surrounded such pretty boys.

Didn't make sense.

Suddenly, Donghyuck's eyes fell onto her figure and panicking, the girl quickly turned her head — about to head off at the flush covering her face.

"Hey, Maya!" Fuck.

There was no way she could escape now, exasperated as she screwed her eyes shut and slowly turned back to the person the voice belonged to.

"Yes?" Maya shifted nervously, keeping her tone sweet amidst looking up at him as he swiftly moved towards her, almost arrogantly, once again a cocky smirk decorating his ethereal face.

"I'm taking you home, doll. You forgot?" Donghyuck licked his lips, leaning on the lockers while towering over her small frame as she opened her mouth to speak.

"Uh... right." She said, almost incoherent as a light blush heated up her cheeks, making the boy chuckle when she avoided his strong gaze.

"Let's go."
Turning, Donghyuck shoved his hands into his leather jacket pockets, leading the way and Maya hurried behind, not wanting to make him wait.

He intimidated her, and having to be stuck in the car with him — that's what she undoubtedly hated the most at this point.

Nobody was in sight, as she strolled behind Donghyuck while fidgeting with her fingers — palms sweaty from anxiousness and head down, praying for this interraction to be over soon. Unlocking the car, they both sat in, the engine roaring to life.

The buzzing of her phone made her glance up at Donghyuck, swiftly grabbing the device she tapped on the screen to reveal a chat.

How was your first day?

A small smile lingered on her lips as her eyes wandered over Mingyul's text.

"What are you smiling about?"

"Nothing."
She spoke monotonously, putting her phone away as she tried not to think of the boy beside her, looking out on the streets instead.

A warmth suddenly littered over her thigh, making her tense up as she looked over to see Donghyuck's hand gripping her casually as he handled the wheel with his other hand, eyes focused on the road ahead.

"What are you doing?" Maya asked timidly, a blink of stiffness in her tone as she swallowed the lump in her throat with evident uneasiness showering over her figure.

But he wouldn't say anything, holding back the smirk and teasingly moving his hand up —  leaving a trail of tingles on her skin and she slightly panicked.

"Donghyuck." She said, trying to sound stern but it didn't come out as it should.

Instead, her tone was gentler, almost fearful and it made him smirk as he had a plan in his head — trying to push her so far that she would do something, raise her voice, whatever.

To him, it was amusing and more he touched up on her leg, more she shifted into her seat and finally made a move.

Maya grabbed his wrist, harshly pushing his hand away.
"You should keep your hands to yourself." She breathed out, feeling the beats of her heart stronger.

"Should I?" Donghyuck's mouth pulled upwards even more and he grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers.

"Donghyuck, let go." She said, exasperated when she couldn't pull her hand away.

"No."

"Donghyuck." Her tone changed, brows raised as she burned holes into the side of his face, jawline being on full display.
"Let go of me you twat."

"What did you call me?" Surprised, he let out a breathy laugh while glancing her way.

"You heard me, now let go." She said, getting annoyed and flapping their hands around. Trying hard so he would release her hand, no avail was made.

"That's the most words you've said to me so far." Donghyuck contemplated, tilting his head ever so lightly and his eyes sparkled at her being visibly annoyed.

Her hands started getting slightly clammy and Maya let out a harsh exhale, frowning and completely giving up. It would be useless if she continued to whine at him, so she held his hand while being aware of her cheeks heating up once more as she glanced at his smug face.

Trying to decipher him, Maya smirked to herself, gulping sharply and leaning in, almost overall sure her next words would work — hopefully making her hand set free.
"You better let go, Donghyuck. Or else, we'll be talking differently."

Tensing up, the boy remained expressionless, before his lips twitched upwards.

It was true, he didn't expect it.

But Donghyuck now knew her other personality and fairly enough, he was determined to make her reveal it more.

And there was nothing that could stop him.

Nothing to lose, but what would it cost him?
