FALDREY
Standing in front of the towering, lustred timber of the wooden door to Eren's chambers, Faldrey had butterflies in his stomach. Flame butterflies. This was the closest he'd ever been to Eren's chambers, he'd never neared this part of the Blazing Keep. He couldn't wait to see the look of surprise on Eren's face when he sees him in his chamber-room.
Placing an incomplete rhythmic servant knock on the door, he slowly pushed it open. The giddiness that came over him prevented him from completing the knock and waiting for a reply.
Walking well into the room, he saw a lying Eren staring up at him ceiling.
"Lunch, Your Fieriness," he greeted courteously, changing the pitch of his voice so Eren wouldn't tell he was the one.
"Who the bloody furnace is that?!" Eren bellowed, springing up from his bed and shooting his glare in the direction the voice came from.
The sound had Faldrey staggering back a few steps, his hands falling to his side, clenching and shaking.
Faldrey then saw the reason Eren always wore a mask. He once asked him why and he simply answered 'let's just say I've scars that I'm not too proud of'. He never imagined it to be a literal scar, let alone one this big and severe.
"I-I-I'm so sorry, I—"
Eren didn't give him the chance to finish stuttering his sentence before he cut him off.
"How dare you come into my chambers without knocking?!" He enunciated every word with every long stride he took towards Faldrey.
When he'd gotten to a dangerously close distance, Faldrey started taking shaky steps backwards, backing away from the cart. He kept his eyes fixed on the scar which disfigured the lower half of his face.
"I-I'm sorry, I just wanted to surprise you," Faldrey pled with a trembling voice.
Eren let out a gobble, the sound of his laughter awry and unfamiliar. It sounded nothing like the joyous belly laughter Faldrey was used to.
"Surprise me? Such a twist of events, now I've surprised you instead, haven't I?!"
Faldrey's back had hit a wall. With no other place left for him to shrink to, he pinned himself to the wall and watched as Eren approached him.
"I-I'm not surprised," Faldrey muttered, staring at the furious eyes of the Young Tal Dane.
Eren had gotten to him now, he was standing right in front of Faldrey. His hot breath warming the trembling boy's face, giving his cheeks a tint of pink.
"So you have always thought I looked this hideous?" There was a smile on his face but a sneer in his voice as he motioned at his scar.
"You're not hideous," Faldrey watched Eren's iris flicker from the normal brown of his eyes, to a very bright yellow every time he spoke. His rage daring to completely take over.
"I am hideous!" He slapped his hands to the wall with a loud thud, his hands now on either side of Faldrey's face. The action making the boy flinch and squeeze his eyes shut. Slowly opening them when he noticed Eren wasn't reaching to hit him. "I'm hideous!" He sobbed. It hurt his chest that Faldrey flinched because of him. He never wanted Faldrey to feel scared ever again, but now he was the reason behind his shaky hands and trembling lips. "I look like a monster," his voice turned soft as his head hung down, tears falling from his eyes now.
"No, Eren. You're not," a crystal tear drop escaped Faldrey's left eye, but he wasn't bawling like the boy with the damaged face in front of him.
"Yes, I am. I know I am. You most definitely hate me now," he cried, his head still hanging down.
