Nixi has been living in Outer Bank since she was 2 years old, Her parent dropped her off at her grandfathers house and went off out to sea and never came back. So for the next 14 years she lived there, making friends and keeping her Grandpa guessing. when she started going to school she became friends with the boy who lived across the road, John b. John b was a lot of things but boring was never one of them. He lived with his dad is a old house right on the marsh. Through John b Nixi met JJ. JJ was one of a kind, loud, annoying and the funniest person she ever met.
Eventually the trio turned in to a four as they met Pope. Pope was the smartest person she knows and can all ways come up with a solution when their "plans" go wrong. Which is more often then not. And lastly there is Kiara, or Kie. Kie was Nixi's best friend and it was also Nixi who introduced her to the boys. soon enough they gave them selves the name "The Pogues." And they became inseparable. But after John b's dad went missing 9 months ago something changed.
~ B E G I N N I N G O F S U M M E R ~
After finally being done with her chores Nixi gives her grandpa a kiss goodbye before walking across the road to the chateau. Right as she get to the door the rest of the Pogues pull up in John b's van. Nixi loved that car, the amount of weed her and JJ smoked in that car is unbelievable, but also some off her favorite memories.
"Where you guys go?" she asks while swatting a fly away from her face.
"We were at the new housing settlement over in figure eight, its pretty dope dude" Pope says while getting out of the back of the van.
"Did you get caught or what?" she says while following John B and JJ to the HMS Pogue. John b's dad gave it to him for his 14th birthday and its everyone's pride and joy.
"Yep, good'ol Gary gave us a chase but gave up pretty quick" JJ says with a laugh while loading some tackle onto the boat.
"We fishing?" Kie asks.
"Always" John b says as if its obvious.
The girls look at each other and shrug while climbing in and off they go.
Nixi wakes up the next day beside Kie. This isnt anything unusual. Even when john b's dad was around they all normally slept there and if not there then they where across the road at Nixi's house.
"Morning guys" John b says as he walks down the hall into the living room.
"morning" they both mumble while Nixi sits up and start to put her shoes on.
"Where are you going?" Kie asks, rubbing her eyes.
"Home?" she deadpans. Kie just rolls her eyes and lays back down. Walking out onto the porch she greets Pope with a handshake, waves to John b on the hammock and starts the 3 minute walk back to her own house. She would say good bye to JJ but he seemed a little busy.
Later that day while Nixi was hanging in her room JJ bursts through the door with Pope right on his heels. The two boys jump on her bed.
"Umm, Can i help you?" She asks while laughing.
"Yep, get warm and meet us outside in 5 minutes" Pope says while getting back off the bed and walking towards the door. JJ look at her while she still looks confused.
While getting up he says "fire on the beach baby!" With that the two boys run out of her room while whooping and hollering. Rolling her eyes Nixi still gets up and throws a hoodie on over her tank top.
After the three of them get to the beach the see Kie has already started the fire and has a cooler filled with beers. Laughing as they go to run down the sand dunes towards the beach. Kie just rolls eyes and sits down not wanting to get wet. Pope also sits down with Kie while Nixi and JJ keep on racing towards the water. JJ picks Nixi up over his shoulder and starts running into the water.
"JJ stop!! I don't have any spare clothing!" Nixi laughs. JJ laughs but still walks back to the beach and puts her down. The two smile at each other before walking back up to the fire.
When they get there Nixi notices that John b has already arrived but he is sitting away from everyone else. "is he okay?" she asks looking over to him.
"Yea, he had his this thing today and now he is being threatened with foster care" Kie says sadly.
"Shit" Nixi sighs.
"I'm sure everything will be fine." JJ says before telling a crappy joke that everyone starts to laugh at.
~ T H E N E X T D A Y ~
Nixi is lazing around on her couch when her grandpa comes in asking her for help typing evrything down for the storm.
"storm? what storm?" She asks while getting up.
"They've named it agatha, she's gonna be a good one" he sighs.
"okay, lets go." she says.
Later in the day the storm is starting when she sees John b heading out with his bored.
"OI, You going surfing with out me?" she says from her front door.
"Not if you come and join" He yells back. Nixi grins and run out with her surf board and ties it down on the top of the van before getting in the back.
"Are you gonna wear a wetsuit??" She asks not seeing one in the back set.
"Never" he laughs while driving to get Pope.
When they get to Popes house Nixi opens the door for him and helps him tie down his bored. Not long after they arrive at the beach.
"Its a double overhead out the bro" Pope says ass the three of them run out towards the beach.
" A double overhead?" John b repeats.
"Holy shit" Nixi says while looking at the waves.
"Those aren't surfable waves bro" Pope says looking between the other two.
"Says who" Nixi and John b say at the same time before running towards the waves.
Sadly Pope was in fact right and John b and Nixi wiped out on pretty much every wave. But when they stopped to catch their breathe they saw a ship out in the ocean. Nixi looks over to John b and see he looks just as confused as she feels. Giving up on the waves the trio decides to go home and sleep off the storm at the chateau.
The next morning when Nixi wakes up she rolls over to see JJ asleep on the pull on next to her. This wasn't unusual.
"Yo guys, You been outside?" John b ask's before walking outside.
Nixi shakes her head while JJ says "I have polio bro, i can't walk".
Nixi rolls her eyes as she watches John b walk outside to see the damage. After a few minutes of hearing him curse Nixi gently wacks JJ over the head. "Come on Mr Polio" laughs while climbing over him and out the front door to lean on the porch, a couple seconds later JJ joins her.
"Agatha did some work huh" JJ said while looking at the damage.
"Yea, she did" John b said as he tried to move some of the branches off the boats. While stretching JJ lets out a burp.
"Jesus, you're gross" Nixi sighs as she starts to help.
"What'cha thinking?" JJ asks while leaning against the boat.
"I'm thinking that storm surge pushed all the crabs out on the marsh maze, all those drums are gonna chase the crabs" John b says with a grunt.
"What about the DCS, wasn't that today?" JJ asks while watching Nixi and John b clear the boat.
"They wont get on a ferry today, not after the storm" Nixi says. John b looks up and point at her nodding.
"Yea, and think bout it." John b says while holding a branch towards the sky, "it's God telling us to fish"
AAANNNDDD thats its for the first chapter. im going to try make sure every chapter is over 1000 words but we will see how it goes haha.
