In life every choice has a consequence. For the young mercenary, Celeste Castel, her choice would decide the Planet's fate. When she meets a young man named Cloud Strife, she is asked one of the most hardest questions that will affe...
The four of us stand side by side as the train zooms at incredible speed. I look around the passenger seats and realize that there's barely anyone! If anything there's just one person!
"This is an announcement from the Shinra Electric Power Company," a female voice rings on the train's speaker. "The terrorist group 'Avalanche' has issued another bomb threat."
. . .
A frown appears on my face as I glance at Barret, Tifa, and Cloud. They sure don't stop, do they? They'll go so far just to destroy Mako Reactors and to risk lives?
"In response, we have raised the threat level and entered a state of heightened alert. All lines are currently experiencing delays," the female announcer continues. "We anticipate that our arrival in Sector 4 will be later than scheduled."
With that, the message ends, and I stand silently with my arms crossed. "The target's Mako Reactor 5. From the station, we take the backstreets." Barret looks at all of us. "Once we're inside the facility, it's the same deal as last time."
"Head for mako storage." Cloud answers. "And then blow it all to hell." Barret makes a crushing gesture with his left hand. "And you, new girl-" I blink. I was thinking about the Planet's future and how weird Sephiroth was when I met him, I completely zoned out on what Barret was saying.
"Yes, boss?" I say, fixing my composure as if I was listening.
"Follow orders, do what you're told. Don't get left behind, cause if you die, then that sucks." Barret plainly says. "And don't think to try any funny business - got it?"
"Yes sir," I nod, agreeing to Barret's terms. Right then, Tifa nervously walks away from our group, followed by Barret - leaving just Cloud and me to stand awkwardly. "So, you have a nice rest?" Cloud asks, his arms crossed.
"Huh? Oh, yeah," I scratch the back of my head bashfully. "I haven't slept that good in a long time." I chuckle.
"That makes sense," Cloud gives me a small glance. "You were out for 2 days." My eyes widen at the news Cloud tells me. "I was asleep for 2 whole days!?"
Cloud nods, "I thought you were dead, but Tifa suggested that you just needed more sleep."
"Oh god, those drinks probably took a toll on me," I pinch the bridge of my nose. Then there was silence. None of us wanted to speak since it was awkward until Cloud asked a serious question.
"What made you join Avalanche so quickly?"
. . .
I hold my breath, recalling the worse of this Planet's future, and Cloud's if I didn't join Avalanche to protect him.
"You can say I had a change of heart." I give Cloud a genuine smile. A smile in which I would promise to protect him. "And it was someone who made me realize that there's more to life than just 'me.' "
