Reena If my boss asks, I took you out to
breakfast this morning.

Bonney What'd I have to eat?

Reena You had a glass of water and
carrot sticks. Really, who asks that?

Bonney No wonder I'm still hungry.

Bonney So... Where were you?

Reena Avoiding work.

Bonney Uh huh... And why?

Reena I didn't feel like going in,
that's all.

Bonney So... you told your boss that you were
going to skip work to have breakfast with me?
My boss would fire me if I missed work
just for some breakfast.

Reena I told him that I needed
to be there for you.

Bonney Be there for me?

Reena In your time of... Need.

Bonney ...

Reena I told him that your dog died.

Bonney Again??! How many of my
dogs are you going to kill off?!

Reena I promise you this is the last one!

Bonney So... let me get this straight...
You skipped work to take me out to
breakfast because my dog died?

Reena Yup.

Bonney Cool.

Bonney Wanna grab drinks tonight?

Reena Nope... but if you bring a pizza over,
we can pig out and find a movie to watch.

Bonney Sounds like a plan.

Reena tossed her phone onto the coffee table and slumped back into her couch. Wedging a hand between the cushions, she spent a good minute digging around for the controller. Finally finding it, she pulled it out, along with a used condom that she assumed was her roommates, because she was definitely not having sex.

Gagging in disgust, she made her way to the kitchen, promptly throwing out the condom and washing her hands.

Finding her way back to the couch, she plopped down and absentmindedly started to make noises as she tried to find something semi-interesting to watch on Hulu. But because she spent most of her time on it, she'd already seen most the movies and T.V. shows. And that included the weird movies she thought she'd never watch.

Rubbing at her eyelids, she melted into the blankets on the couch and not long after, passed out.

"Hey... Hey, Reena..."

A lazed whisper stirred Reena from her sleep. Groaning, she slapped her hand to her face and rubbed at it. "What do you want?"

"Can I have the last Gatorade-yoi?"

It was Marco, her roommate and best friend. They'd known each other since elementary school.

"What?" Reena sluggishly sat up. "No, I'm saving it for later."

Plopping down on the loveseat adjacent from the couch, he opened the Gatorade and took a swig. "Too late-yoi."

Reena watched him from the corner of her eye. "Why'd you bother to ask me if you could have it if you were going to drink it anyways?"

"To be polite," he shrugged.

Reena dismissed him with a hand wave and grabbed her buzzing phone from the coffee table.
