( Marco's Bedroom – Marco's POV )

Finally finishing my studies, I tossed my book onto the floor, turned my nightstand lamp off and slumped into my bed. Grabbing my pillow, I covered my head and prepared to sleep for the night. Just as I was about to doze off though, Reena's text notification rung and woke me right back up. Tossing my pillow aside, I rolled onto my side and grabbed my phone.

Reena Marco!!@!#~#@$

And she's drunk.

Marco Yes?

Reena R yu bsy?

Marco I'm in bed

Reena soooooo yur nt busy?

Marco Just trying to sleep

Reena perrrfect!!@! Com pick us up!

Marco Still at Black Beard's?

Reena yyeeeeup!

Marco I'll be right there

Tossing my purple hoody over my head and pulling on a pair of black sweatpants, I headed out.

I wouldn't normally go out of my way to pick someone up, but Reena was a special case. A couple years ago when she was on a date with Kaku, he bailed on her to go do who knows what. When she text me to come pick her up, I didn't bother to respond. We weren't living together at the time and I figured she could bother her boyfriend, Kaku, for a ride home; unaware that he bailed.

She ended up lost because Kaku took her to a part of town that she was unfamiliar with and she'd just moved into her college apartment and couldn't remember the address. Nothing happened to her thankfully, and Bonney ended up picking her up, but after that I always told myself that I'd never let that happen to her again.

Finding a spot next to the curb, I put my car in park and reached into my pocket for my phone.

Marco Here.

With my seat leaned back, I waited.

Reena was the first one to surface from the bar with a paper bag in hand. She stumbled to the car, using a few people she passed along the way as a crutch.

The women she grabbed onto seemed to mind, but the men were more than happy to have her use their shoulders for support, taking the chance to look back and admire her butt.

It didn't bother me when men checked her out or even made a pass at her. We never were on a level of romance with each other. Just two best friends who spent a fair amount of time together.

Grabbing at the back of my headrest with both hands, I closed my eyes and grunted a hello when she crawled into the front seat. Feeling her stare, I opened one eye and looked at her.

She gave me a sloppy grin and held up the bag. "I got the burgers!"

I couldn't help but laugh. She was definitely wasted.

"How much did you have to drink-yoi?"

She started to count her fingers. "Uhm..."

"That much?"

"Hehehe," she snickered, beaming wide.

Wiggling her shoulders in a small dance, she set the bag down and reached into her pocket, pulling out her phone. Humming along to the radio, she browsed through her social media, hearting a few photos while scrolling by others.

I glanced at the pub doors for any sign of Kid and Bonney, but they weren't outside yet. What was taking them so long? Kid was probably having troubles with Bonney. She always put up a fight when it was time to leave the bar. That was one thing I didn't miss about our relationship. If you could even call it that. Is a year of one-sided love even a relationship? Especially if the other treated it as an open relationship?
