(Marco's POV)

Reena looked down at her phone which was tucked under the table.

"Reena, just give it up-yoi."

"Hm?" She shoved her phone between her legs and looked up at me. "What?"

"He's not going to text you back. He doesn't want to come to game night with a bunch of strangers."

"A stranger can become a friend," she said definitely, picking up her bottled green tea.

"What stranger?" Bonney asked, setting up the monopoly board.

"No one," Reena excused. She picked up the game pieces, trying to decide what she wanted to be. "I think I'll be the top hat this time."

"Mhm..." Bonney eyed her suspiciously. She looked to me for an answer, but I just looked away and picked up the Scottie Dog. "I'll be the dog."

Bonney's mouth clamped shut when the doorbell rang. "We'll continue this later."

"Don't tell her," Reena mumbled. "She'll make it worse. I'm pushy, but she's the queen of pushy. She'll hunt him down and bug him about not texting me back."

I tucked my hands into my purple hoodie's pockets and leaned back. "I won't say a word."

"Thanks."

"Why do you care if he texts you back anyway?" I asked.

"I don't know. I mean, I guess I don't care, care. I just thought it'd be nice to add another person to our game nights."

"I think we have enough people for our game nights. I don't even know why I still come. I wouldn't be missed."

Reena nudged her elbow into my side and laid her head on my shoulder. "I'd miss you."

Bonney came back into the room with a familiar face.

Kaku cleared his throat.

Reena stiffened when she saw Kaku and pulled away. Standing up, she wandered over to him. It was obvious she was nervous, you could see it in her steps. "Kaku, I didn't expect you to come to game night," she smiled.

Kaku's eyes didn't leave mine. "I didn't plan to come, but Bonney said that just because we're on a break, doesn't mean I can skip game night. And we all know how persistent she is."

Reena looked back at me before focusing on Kaku again. "I'm glad you came. It wouldn't be the same without you."

Bonney checked her wristwatch. "Let's give the others a few more minutes. Kaku, why don't you and Reena grab some snacks from the kitchen?"

Kaku finally moved his glaring eyes from me. "Sure."

Reena reached for his hand but stopped when she realized what she was doing. Nodding her head, she laced her hands behind her back and led him to the kitchen.

Bonney started fussing with the monopoly money. "You need to stop."

I quirked a brow at her. "What?"

"Stop being so..." She pursed her lips. "Stop being so friendly with Reena. It makes Kaku uncomfortable."

I rolled my eyes and sat up straight. Reaching for my share of the money, I sorted it out in front of me. "I'm not doing anything-yoi."

"Really?" Bonney flicked my forehead. "You guys are too friendly with each other."

"No we're not."

"Mhm... You do realize that Kaku broke up with her because of you, right?"

I opened my canned soda. "No he didn't."
