Baekhyun walked up the long path leading to the palace. He was quite surprised that Chanyeol had actually chosen to walk, but Baekhyun figured there must have been a reason.
As he looked up to the massive palace, he felt himself veer off the path for a short moment before regaining his balance. His wings were fully healed, but his balance was still a bit off. Chanyeol would usually set him on the right track, but he didn't want to burden the prince like that.
He must have let out a small sound, because Chanyeol looked back at him for a short time before pushing open the large doors. It was then that Baekhyun noticed Chanyeol was being cautious and quiet, only opening the door enough for them to get in. That must have been why they had to walk, Baekhyun thought to himself.
"Your highness," a servant came up to him, "Your father requests your presence in his study."
"Tell him I will be there shortly," he nodded and watched the servant scurry off. He suddenly took Baekhyun's wrist and dragged him down the hall. Baekhyun blinked, wondering why he couldn't just follow him like before. He seemed to feel a tension coming from Chanyeol, but he also had a feeling that it wasn't his fault.
Baekhyun continued to take in his surroundings as they walked down each hallway. They all looked the same to him, and he was already concerned about getting lost. Each hall was filled with windows, the sunlight pouring in and creating radiant colours on the floor tiles. If Chanyeol wasn't leading him, Baekhyun would almost be afraid to step on the beautiful floor.
Finally, they reached a large set of doors and Chanyeol finally released Baekhyun's wrist.
He pushed the doors open and walked in, motioning for Baekhyun to follow. When Baekhyun entered, the first thing he noticed was how huge the room was.
He swore it had to be as big as the entire orphanage he lived in as a child. He swore that he could pick up one item in the room and it could have fed all of the starving children.
"This is my room," Chanyeol finally announced, closing the doors behind Baekhyun, "As long as my father is here, this is the only place you're allowed to go. The bathroom is just out that door."
Baekhyun was so busy gawking that it didn't dawn on him that this was actually Chanyeol's room. It was gigantic! What was a person supposed to do with all of that space? The wall that he was looking at was a wall of windows, with a large curtain drawn open to let the light in.
Baekhyun had to physically look up to actually see the top of the wall, it was extremely tall. You would think that you should look up to see the top of any wall, but Baekhyun was used to sleeping in some odd places. Lights hung from the ceiling in all shapes and sizes. They must have looked like stars at night.
The only piece of furniture against that wall was a huge circular bed. Baekhyun didn't think they made circular beds, let alone beds in that size. It could have fit about ten full grown adults. Along the wall to his left were shelves and shelves filled with books, and on his right was a desk and some chairs, it almost looked like a miniature living room.
As he scanned the same wall, he noticed the door Chanyeol was indicating as the bathroom. He stared at it for a moment, but didn't move.
"Go on, you act as if it will hurt you," Chanyeol noticed his curiosity. Baekhyun quickly bowed in apology and scurried over to the door, opening it up and trying to contain his gasp.
The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom itself. He looked to one side to see another set of doors, but these ones were open. He peered inside and saw what looked like another room, but it was actually a massive walk in closet. He looked over to his other side where the sink and a massive mirror stood, big enough to make Baekhyun seem like a tiny forest fairy.
