"Mingyu, have you lost your mind!"
Out of all the strange things Mingyu could have said and out of all the weird things Chanyeol had built up in his mind, pregnancy was not on the list.
He knew that some species were able to have the male gender reproduce, but they were mostly rare beasts that were scarcely seen. None of them were in the human class, at least in Chanyeol's knowledge. This was new.
"Alright, perhaps I overreacted when I said you were in love. You haven't known him long enough for that, but I do believe you have a schoolboy crush on this little fairy," Mingyu rambling.
"Do you honestly believe that is what I meant?!" Chanyeol groaned, "Seriously, get on with the explanation."
"Tsk tsk, impatience is not a becoming trait," Mingyu was just playing dirty now, which meant Chanyeol had to be on his best behaviour to get the information he desired.
"Very well. Can you please enlighten me as to what you were talking about?" Chanyeol crossed his arms and looked over at him.
" I enjoy your manners my prince. Now, what do you know about fairies?" Mingyu began as he finally looked over to Chanyeol.
"Not much I am afraid.....only that they have a festival every season," Chanyeol shrugged, and it was true.
They had to attend these festivals that the faeries put on. He had to admit that it was beautiful, watching them dance in the skies and put on other amusing shows.
"Have you ever noticed anything....strange?" Mingyu was trying to coax him.
"I suppose the only strange thing here is...while all female faeries have wings, some males do while others do not," Chanyeol thought about it. When he was very young and would go with his mother, he would always ask why some of the boy faeries were helping on the ground while the others performed in the air. His mother told him that she would tell him when he was older, but sadly she never got the chance to do so.
"Let me explain....when a fairy is born, they are neither male nor female. A name is not set for them until they are older, when they have a big ceremony and invite all of the faeries in their village or clan. I suppose its the equivalent of the coming of age parties we have.
This is because their body will choose one side or the other - male or female. While its a rarity for it to happen in females, males are more likely to lean more towards the female side.
You may see some males with feminine features, but no wings. Those are simply effeminate males, nothing unusual," Mingyu explained. He let his fingers glide along the water as he spoke, and he began to walk circles around Chanyeol.
"Get on with it..." Chanyeol murmured, resisting the urge to be rude.
"However...." Mingyu stopped making circles around him. He stood right in front and looked up to him, but they may as well have been equally tall. Mingyu was the one staring him down, not the other way around.
"However?" Chanyeol was growing impatient.
"You can't tell me that you don't understand anything by now?" Mingyu scoffed, "Come on now, think for a moment. Where would I be taking this?"
