Ever since the day of their kiss, Baekhyun couldn't be happier. Even Chanyeol seemed to notice the extra spring in his step when he would clean up, or the songs he would hum when they cooked. It was a little more difficult to spend time together since the king was back, but the servants saw no reason to let the king know when they escaped. They would only get in trouble for abandoning their duties, anyhow.

However, despite the effort to spend time together, they still never had a date. Baekhyun would try to drop hints or even get hints out of Chanyeol, but the prince would only respond with 'It's a work in progress.' The servant had no idea what was that supposed to mean. Even when he pouted and fluttered his wings in the cutest way possible, Chanyeol would only chuckle and walk away.

There may have been a large amount of uncertainty about the date, but one thing remained the same. Baekhyun was not only sleeping in Chanyeol's bed, but they often curled up by each other and shared the warmth.

The first night, Baekhyun begun to cry again after a nightmare. He refused to tell Chanyeol about the dream, so the prince only silently wrapped his arms around him with a bit of hesitation.

Once his arms were not rejected, he fell back to sleep. Baekhyun was so shocked, he didn't sleep at all that night, but every night after that incident, his rest became better and better and their bond grew stronger and stronger.

Being treated as an equal had its perks, but also its downfalls. If Baekhyun ever left the room, they had to act as servant and noble once again. The king nearly noticed him a few times, but Chanyeol pretended to give him a good scolding before shooing him back to the bedroom.

No matter what mean things Chanyeol would say, behind the closed doors, he would always hug him and apologize for being so cruel. He knew it was an act, but it still hurt his heart a bit when he did.

His aching heart was certainly not healed when the prince had to spend time with the princess. She didn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, and although Baekhyun knew that Chanyeol still crawled into bed with him at night, but he was still in the courtyard with her during the day.

The king may have enjoyed the presence of Princess Baekhyeon during dinner, but after the food was put away and the alcohol wore off, Princess Yuri was still his priority. Baekhyun wondered if he would end up losing Chanyeol after all, even with all the progress they made.

Baekhyun didn't even realize he was staring out the window - the only thing in the courtyard being servants cutting the grass or watering the flowers - until Chanyeol walked over and gently put his hand on Baekhyun's back.

"Let's go."

The servant jumped and quickly turned, looking right into the prince's large brown eyes. There was a moment of hesitation before Baekhyun murmured a quiet 'What?'

"My father is busy in his study room while the princess has retreated to her chamber for the evening. That leaves some time for you and me to be alone," he took Baekhyun's hands in his, pulling him up off the bed. Baekhyun let him easily, but still seemed confused.

"Is this our date?" he asked as he was gently led across the room and towards the door.

"Yes, i need to show you something special tonight," the prince replied simply as he poked his head out of the door. Once the halls were clear, he slowly led Baekhyun out and they snuck down the hall. At this point, Baekhyun felt like he was at a disadvantage due to his wings, but Chanyeol was sure to take the more spacious hallways so it wouldn't be difficult to move in a hurry if needed.
