"You are beautiful. Really, you are even more beautiful than before."
Sitting over a cup of tea in the kitchen, Shen Yue and Wu Yi were talking to each other, thinking they were alone.
They didn't know that behind the door, a very anxious Wang He Di was listening to everything.
He knew it was wrong, but he couldn't help it.
When after a whole week spent hoping that Yue would stop looking at that damned number card of her ex, she had decided to meet him, his chest had become a den of fear.
"Stop it. I'm huge," he heard Yue say.
"Silly! Really, you are ... I can't even find the words to describe you. When I saw you for the first time in a long time, last week, for a moment I stopped breathing," said Wu Yi.
There was a moment of silence, in which Dylan imagined Yue's cheeks becoming increasingly red.
He needed to throw up.
"Shen Yue ... I'm sorry for everything that happened. Really, I'm sorry."
"I've thought about it a lot, Wu Yi. I'm sorry for what you had to face, I guess you were really scared when you discovered the disease."
"Yeah ... I was ... Terrified. But ... Fear of disease wasn't the biggest problem.
I ... I felt terribly guilty for the pain I caused you by lying to you and especially leaving you that way. And I missed you ... I missed you so much! I spent hours locked in my room looking at our photographs, thanking heaven for giving me you and getting angry for not having enough time to spend my life with you as we had planned. Every day I asked a friend of ours about you, I wanted to know how you were ... When I found out that I wasn't really sick, the first thing I wanted to do was come to you. But ... That friend of ours had already told me that you had found another man, that you were finally happy. So I decided not to disturb you. The important thing for me was your happiness. I was hurt at the thought that you were in another's arms, but there was nothing I could do about it ... After all, it was my fault.
But then I found out that after two years that boy was gone from your life and here I am. Yueyue, I never stopped loving you. Not even for a second. You were, you are and you will always remain the love of my life".
"Wu Yi ..."
Dylan heard her cry and his heart broke into a thousand pieces.
Was she still in love with him? After all that time?
"You should have trusted me! We were getting married! How could you hide such a thing from me ?! We would have had to face it together! If ... If I had been sick, would you have wanted such a thing ?! You wouldn't have wanted to be near me in the time of need ?! " Yue yelled.
"You're right. I was a fool. Listen to me Yueyue, I don't pretend that you immediately take me back into your life ... But I'm asking you ... To give me a chance. Let's go out together. After ten years spent together it seems silly, but ... I want to conquer you again. I promise you that I will be a good father to our children. "
At that point, Dylan's vision clouded red.
He opened the door wide and went straight to them.
"Our children don't need a father. I am their father! And by ours I mean mine and Shen Yue. You have nothing to do with that! Clear ?!" he yelled at Wu Yi, who immediately backed away.
"Dylan ... calm down," Yue whispered.
"Have you listened to us all this time?" Wu Yi asked him.
Wang He Di blushed, not knowing what to answer.
"If you did, I'm happy. I want everyone to know that I'm serious about Shen Yue. I'm really serious.
And if she gives me the chance to love her again, well ... I'll help you take care of the twins, "Wu Yi smiled at him.
Wang He Di shook his head and left the room slamming the door.
"Sorry, Wu Yi ... I ... I have to talk to him. I'll ... I'll call you, okay?" said Yue.
The boy nodded and let her join Dylan in his room.
As soon as she entered, she saw him sitting on the bed with his head in his hands.
She took a long breath and went over to him.
"Can I sit down?" she asked him.
He nodded.
"Didi... I..."
"You will come back with him, won't you?" he interrupted her.
"What?"
"Will you come back with him?"
"I don't know ... It was all so sudden, I'm confused."
Dylan made a great effort not to get up and start smashing anything in that room.
After all the time spent trying in every way to show her his feelings, he understood that it had served no purpose. He understood that it was not necessary for him to confess his love, because her heart already belonged to another man. It had been a moment.
Everything was futile.
"Didi?"
"Good. Go out with him. Marry him. But if I hear him say once again that he will be the father of our children, I swear I'll break his face," he said coldly.
"Don't talk like this, he didn't mean to offend you ..."
"Do you still love him?"
"Didi ..."
"Do you still love him?"
Yue's eyes went misty.
"I don't know," she replied.
He nodded and stood up to leave again.
"Remember these are our kids," he said before leaving the room and leaving her alone.
Yue lay down on the bed and some tears began to streak her face.
She really wasn't sure of anything.
Seeing Wu Yi had opened not only a huge wound inside her, but also a box full of happy memories ...
He had been her first love.
Thinking back on all the things they had done together, she couldn't help feeling a huge lack in her heart.
She lacked that "being in two" and having sure plans for her future.
She thought of Wang He Di's wounded gaze and she felt a great pain in her chest.
Hurting him was the last thing she wanted to do in the world. She really hoped that he would understand her one day and that he would stop worrying about his role as a father. Nobody would ever take it away.
She sighed and closed her eyes.
"It will be all right," she whispered, stroking her belly.
