"Dy ..."
"Yes?"
Those five seconds of silence from Shen Yue seemed like an eternity to Wang He Di.
Her face was the portrait of confusion and this scared him to death.
Was she going to tell him she didn't love him? Did she want him out of her life?
"Nothing ... Just ... Nothing," said Yue, in a trembling voice.
He hoped for another answer, but at least she hadn't refused him.
He could accept that "Nothing" and wait for it to become a "I love you too".
He smiled sweetly and nodded.
"Ok ... Do you want me to sing the lullaby to the children?" he asked.
"It's better ... Better not, for tonight," she replied.
"Then good night".
"Good night..."
But when she was in her room, Shen Yue did nothing but turn for hours on the bed, unable to stop the thoughts that were driving her crazy.
Wang He Di said he loved her.
Since when?  Why hadn't she noticed anything?
She thought of his gaze as he confessed his feelings ... And his warm hands on her cheeks ... The intensity of his eyes had taken her breath away ... He was sincere, he wasn't lying.
"And now?" she asked to herself in a sigh.
She was sure she didn't love him ... She loved Wu Yi.  Wu Yi was the man of her life.  Her first love. Right?
Shen Yue believed in fate ... And if fate had brought Wu Yi into her life again, there had to be a reason.
She stifled an exasperated scream in her pillow and decided to go to the living room to watch television, certain that she would not sleep that night.
A moment later, Wang He Di joined her.
"Hey ... I heard your bedroom door open ... Are you okay?"  he asked, worried.
"Yeah, it's okay," Yue replied, blushing.
"You can't sleep?"
She shook her head, her eyes fixed on the television screens.
"Is that because of what I told you before?"
This time she gave no answer.
Dylan sighed and sat down next to her.
He decided that he would give her all the time she needed.
Although confessing his love had been necessary, he felt guilty for making her so nervous.  He didn't want her and the kids to end up in the hospital again because of the stress that he was causing her.
He bent slightly to bring his face close to Yue's belly.
"Hey, little champions! We haven't been together for a while, have we? Are you okay?" he whispered to the twins.
Yue held back a smile.
She was grateful to him for changing the subject.  She was not ready to face it.
"Two boys ... You know, I spend whole hours imagining how you will be! You will certainly have my charm! I want to buy you a lot of things! But I will forbid your mother to dress you the same way".
"Hey! Why ?!"  exclaimed Yue.
"Because they would seem ridiculous!"
"That's not true! One of the reasons why a woman is happy to have twins is to dress them equally! Can you imagine them ?! They will be adorable!"
Dylan laughed.
He adored the love in her tone of voice when she spoke of their children.
He adored everything about her, honestly.
"Okay, okay. But when they grow up and they will look at their old photographs with their girlfriends and they will feel embarrassed, I want them to know that their dad was against it and that he did everything he could to prevent you from doing this."
"Stupid," Yue snorted.
"I also thought of their names! Do you want to hear them?"  he asked.
She looked at him suspiciously, then nodded.
"Chip and Dale".
"Wang He Di! I won't let you call my kids like two cartoon squirrels!"  Yue laughed.
"Why ?! You want to dress them the same way, it seems worse!"  Dylan replied.
And again he saw her laughing heartily.
Suddenly she stopped and smiled.
"Hey ... they're moving," she said softly.
Dylan hurriedly raised Yue's shirt and put a hand on her belly.  It was such an intimate gesture, but between them it had become a ritual ... He was happy that she let him do it.
"A little further down," she whispered, moving his hand to where she felt the small foot of one of the twins kicking.
"God! I love being able to feel them here with us!"  Dylan smiled, excited.
The idea that two new lives were growing in the womb of the woman he loved surprised him every time.
They were their miracles.
He kissed Yue's belly several times.
His chest was about to explode with love ...
"You are tickling me!"  laughed Yue.
And while she laughed with her eyes full of light, Wang He Di leaned over and kissed her.
This time there was no sadness, there was no despair, there was no fear ... There was only his love for her in that kiss.  There was his devotion to the woman who had changed his life and who was giving him the most beautiful gift in the world.
He kissed her gently, slowly ... And when after a moment of amazement and hesitation he felt Yue's arms encircling his neck, he thought he was dreaming.
Yue was responding to the kiss ... Her soft lips were caressing his, they were looking for them ...
Dylan lost his head.
He put a hand behind her back and gently pushed her to make her lie down on the couch, never letting go of her lips.
Standing on one arm, his body hung over hers.
Her huge belly, pressed against his, made him smile.
Heat.  It was as if a fire had kindled inside him.
And the fact that she wasn't pushing him away was driving him crazy.
But...
"HELP! HELP! HELP! HELP!"
Wang Yu Zheng's scream made them jump to their feet in a second.
They glanced briefly, both red in the face, and then they ran to his room.
"What happens?!"
Yu Zheng was curled up in a corner of the room, terrified.
Hu Lian Xin was sitting next to him, she looked angry.
"What happened?"  Yue asked again, catching up with his best friend.
"This idiot woke me up for an invisible spider! It was so tiny! I was sleeping and suddenly I heard him scream like a madman," muttered Xinxin.
"What?"
"There was a spider on the bed! On my face! And it wasn't tiny! It was huge!"  Yu Zheng whined, holding on to Yue like a child.
"Oh, poor puppy ... Did that ugly bad spider frighten you so much?"  Yue asked in a silly voice.
Yu Zheng moved away from her and looked at her badly.
"You are making a fool of me?!"  he snapped, pouting.
Yue, Dylan and Xinxin burst out laughing.
"Come on, go back to sleep. He's gone," Dylan smiled.
"But if he comes back ?!"
"If he comes back ... First of all: avoid screaming like a sissy. And then ... Well, hold on to your wife ... She will defend you" grinned Yue.
Xinxin blushed and threw her a pillow.
When Wang He Di and Shen Yue left the room, they remained in the corridor for a moment, in silence.
"Yue ..."
"Better sleep, mmh? Goodnight, Didi!"  she hurried to say, before closing herself in her room.
He took a long breath and sighed.
That kiss ...
A sly smile opened on his face.
"I love you," he whispered.
Telling Yue he loved her, out loud, had been terrifying and liberating at the same time.  He had discovered that he loved to say those three words.  He hoped he could do it more often ... If she let him, he would open the window and scream it to the world every morning.
