Eponine awoke to the sound of laughter. Her hand automatically reached towards her face. She felt what seemed to be a large bandage wrapped around it. It stung as she felt it. a Man walked into the room holding a bowl of water and a cloth.
"Ah! You're awake! Well hello, I'm Joly, one of Enjolras' peers."
"What happened?"
"Well, Enjolras says that you fell and hit your head. He carried you to the cafe where I was. He knows that I am a student of medicine and he knew that I could help you. You're very lucky he was there. You were bleeding uncontrollably."
"May I leave soon? I need to find Marius." She tried to stand up but her head was throbbing. She fell back onto the bed.
"Well he's actually here right now, so is Enjolras, I can see if they can come up but no you cannot leave, you're injured and you need to rest." Joly looked straight into her eye as he spoke. Eponine sighed and turned her head towards the door as it opened. It was Enjolras with Marius following closely behind him.
"How do you feel, Eponine?" Enjolras voices flowed smoothly, almost like a calm river.
"I feel faint," she laid back down, "I'm in pain. Lots of pain. My head is pounding, my eyes are burning, I'm bleeding quite a bit, I..." Enjolras stroked her hair and looked at Marius. Eponine was instantly silent. She closed her eyes and fell back into sleep.
"Enjolras when did you become this gentle?" Marius was confused. He had never seen a man such as Enjolras be so loving.
Enjolras began to speak, "Sometimes people bring out our true colors, my friend."
