The next day the young men stood outside holding furniture. The sun beat down on them as they built. Enjolras stood on a table holding a large red flag.

"Upon this ground we build our barricade!" Enjolras threw his fist into the air. He turned to see that Marius was late again.

"Marius, where is Eponine? I have a letter for her."

"She has gone to bring a letter to Cosette. Let me take the letter, I will give it to her tomorrow."

Eponine disguesed herself before she left for to give the letter to Cosette. She wore a pair of trousers, a large white shirt, a heavy beige pea coat, and her cap. A boy, she thought, I must look like a boy, the man that took Cosette cannot know who I, am who I was before. She shoved the letter in her pocket and left.

When she reached the house she knocked of the door and shouted, "letter for Cosette!" The door opened and her father stood in front if her. He was tall and strong looking. His eyes were bloodshot and his hair was greying. He took the letter.

"The letter is for your daughter, sir."

"Yes, boy I know. Stay safe tonight. There is danger on the streets tonight."

    "Yes, sir."

"She gave me a letter this morning for a man named Marius. She told me to take it to him."

"The letter for her is from Marius. I know where he is, I can bring it to him." Eponine stuttered as she spoke. Cosette's father gave her the letter and she left, tucking the letter away in her pocket.

Once she was far enough away from the house she opened the letter. It read, Marius my love, my father plans to take us across the sea. He refuses to tell me why. I have told him that I cannot leave you but he doesn't understand. I love you, Marius and I cannot live with out you. Your Love, Cosette. Eponine began to cry as she read the letter. A girl that had only seen Marius once was talking about how she could live without him when Eponine had never known the love of a man that she loved. Marius could do this to her. This has to be a dream, just a long dream, she thought. Just then she decided that she was going to the barricade. It was time for her to see Marius again before he left to marry Cosette. Before Eponine chose what to do with her miserable life.
