The second the car stopped in the Argent's driveway, I jumped out and rushed into the house. "Chris!" I yell, and he rushes into the living room, a worried look on his face. "Tori? What's-" He starts but Gerard walks in with a big smile. Chris stops and looks at me, his eyebrows scrunched together. "How was the game?" He asks, and Gerard's smile widens. "Why don't you ask the star player?" He suggests as Scott walks into the room with a nervous smile. Chris makes eye contact with me and I nod slowly, wishing I could talk to him and tell him how scared I actually am right now. Gerard is a lot of things, but doddering grandpa is not one of them. "Victoria, would you mind helping Chris bring the rest of the dinner to the table?" Mrs. Argent asks, showing everyone else to the table. "Sure." I say with a tight smile before rushing into the kitchen. "What happened?" Chris asks and I let out a shaky breath. "Scott was hit on the field, the other dude knocked him down so bad that Scott broke his leg. Everyone heard it, and then he stood up and limped a bit. But, he knows. He didn't say it, but he knows." I whisper quickly, the panic setting in. "Just act normal, whatever you do, don't let him know that you've known about Scott. It wouldn't be good." Chris says, and I nod, grabbing a bowl before following him into the dining room. We all sit and eat, in complete silence, all of us feeling awkward for our own reasons. "All right. Why is everyone so quiet? Is it that uncomfortable that they dated?" Gerard asks, setting his fork down. "Did you ask them if they'd be uncomfortable?" Chris asks and Gerard chuckles. "Okay, I know it's been a few centuries since I was a teenager, but even back then, we dated and broke up all the time." He says with a grin. I continue chewing my food awkwardly. "We're fine, right Scott?" Allison asks and Scott nods. "Totally fine." He says with a grin. "Then why did you break up?" He asks and I choke. Everyone turns and stares at me as I cough before taking a drink of water. "I actually just remembered that I'm supposed to call my brothers. Could I be excused?" I ask, and Chris nods. I push away from the table and run up the stairs, slamming my door shut. I send Scott a quick 'he knows' text before taking a deep breath. I start to call Sam when my phone starts ringing. I frown, but answer. "Tori?" Stiles' voice rings through, splashing in the background. "Stiles? What's wrong?" I ask, worry washing over me. "I'm stuck with Derek in the pools at the school. We're trapped by that thing, Derek's paralyzed and I don't.....I don't know how much longer I can hold him up." He hurries, and I nod, grabbing several weapons. "I'll be there as soon as I can. Just hang on." I say, walking over to the window and climbing out. I drop to the ground, wincing slightly. I run towards Allison's car in a crouch, hoping no one sees me through the dining room window. I jump into Allison's car, grabbing her spare key from her glovebox. "Please don't hate me." I mutter under my breath before starting the car and quickly pulling out of the driveway. I speed towards the school, barely slowing down as I whip into the parking lot. I turn the car off and jump out, rushing towards the pool. I run in, glaring at the monster as it stalks around the pool. I pull out my gun and shoot at it, frowning when it just looks angrier instead of injured. It growls and comes at me. I curse under my breath and pull out a throwing knife laced with wolfsbane. It lodges itself into the creature's side, but it just keeps coming towards me. It almost scratches me, but I manage to jump back and grab a piece of a mirror from the ground to try and slice it. The creature stops and tilts its head before running off. I huff in annoyance, Dean's gonna be pissed that I lost that knife. "Mind helping me?" Stiles calls out and my eyes widen before I rush over to the pool. "Sorry, sorry I got distracted." I say, pulling off my flannel and shoes before jumping into the pool. I grab Derek's other side and help pull him to the side, roughly shoving him up on the side. I pull myself up next to him, grabbing Stiles' hand to help him up. "You're a life saver." Stiles sighs, flopping back onto the ground. "How are we supposed to figure out what that thing is? My brothers don't even recognize it." I groan, flopping back and laying next to Stiles. "It's called a kanima." Derek says, and I turn to him, frowning when I notice he's standing. Asshole. "You knew the whole time." Stiles accuses, jumping up. Derek shakes his head. "No. Only when it was confused by its own reflection." He says. I sigh and stand, crossing my arms. "So it doesn't know what it is." I say and he nods. "Or who." "What else do you know?" Stiles asks, frustration clear on his face. "Just stories. Rumors." Derek says, and the door slamming shut makes me whip my head around. I relax when I realize it's just Scott. "But it's like us?" He asks and Derek nods. "A shape - shifter, yes, but it's - it's not right. It's like a-" He starts, and Stiles cuts in. "An abomination." "Derek? We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents." Scott suggests and my eyes widen. "Absolutely not." I say, shaking my head. "You trust them?" Derek asks, shock clear on his face. "Nobody trusts anyone! That's the problem. While we're here, arguing about who's on what side, there's something scarier, stronger and faster than any of us, and it's killing people and we still don't even know anything about it." Scott rants, and I shake my head. "I know one thing. When I find it? I'm gonna kill it." Derek says before storming out. "You can't tell them, Scott. Gerard is not the kind of hunter to show mercy or understanding. He will kill you, if he finds out that you're a werewolf." I say and he shakes his head. "I think you're wrong. I think we might just be overestimating Gerard." He argues and I purse my lips, slipping into my shoes and throwing my flannel back on. "Fine. But when you're wrong and I'm right, I may not be there to save your ass." I storm out of the pools, letting out a long sigh before getting into Allison's car. This isn't going to end well. ***
Guess who's back? Okay, so this chapter is shorter than usual, but hopefully the next chapter will be longer. I have so much planned for this story and I can't wait to get more into it! I know I said I was going to try to finish it before 2020, but November/December were really hard for me. I got back into the swing of things earlier this year, but still struggled writing until recently. So now, I'm back and plan on finishing this as soon as I can! Please vote and comment, because it means a lot to know that people still like reading about Tori!
