Upon reading his text, I immediately called him back.
While waiting for him to answer, kinuha ko yung envelope sa drawer ng study table ko to check it out as well. Bumalik ako sa higaan ko and wait for him to answer my call.
Hindi siya nasagot. Baka may ginagawa. I put my phone on my bed side table at muling binuksan ulit yung letter. According to his texts, may nakita raw siyang nakasulat sa papel pero malabo. Paano nangyari 'yun? Magic?
So, I checked mine. Baka meron ngang nakalagay pero habang inuusisa ko ito ay wala pa rin namang nakalagay.
I heard my phone rang and I immediately answered it when I saw Timmy's name.
"Hello? Gen! Sorry if hindi ako nakasagot agad. Just arranging stuff for my birthday later.", agad niyang bungad sa akin.
"It's okay. So how about the letter?", diretsong tanong ko sa kanya para malaman kung ano ba talagang nangyari.
"Oh, that's right. Wait!", then I heard in the background noise na tumayo siya from his bed and the sound of opening a box.
"So... kaninang umaga, I was looking for meds para sa sakit ng ulo kasi sobrang sakit talaga ng ulo ko kanina. It feels like there's something drilling sa ulo ko. I looked everywhere—sa bathroom, sa drawers ko and cabinet but I couldn't find medicines for headache. While searching, hindi ko napansin na nasa lapag yung bag ko so nasagi ko yung bag ko," ang daldal talaga ng isang 'to eh 'no. Detalyado talaga magkuwento. May hangover pa siya sa lagay na 'yan ha.
"So medyo kumalat yung laman nung bag kasama na 'dun yung envelope. Inayos ko na yung laman ng bag at huling nilagay yung envelope. Medyo nakalabas yung papel sa envelope when I saw letters written on it. So, my curiosity got me and opened it, and to my surprise may nakasulat! But I can't read it sa sobrang labo. Sobrang faint nung color ng pen but I'm sure it's written in green pen. Then I texted you to tell you about this but you're not replying so I called you instead but still, you're not answering." napakahabang kwento niya.
"It's written in green pen?", sinong nagsusulat ng letter in a green pen?
"Yup, and the letters are quite small because I assume it is a long letter dahil sa dami ng green color na nakikita ko ngayon. It's a small paper you know."
"Can't you see anything unusual aside from the faint letters written in it?"
"Nope. Wala naman but like what I've said, I can't read it at all."
Okay... What's happening? How come magkakaroon ng letter yun? 'Eh the last time that we both checked it, there's nothing in there but a clean sheet of old paper. Habang tumatagal, it's getting weirder and weirder.
Hindi kaya sa sobrang kalasingan niya ay sinulat-sulatan niya lang yung papel na 'yun? He said that he has a serious hangover right now at hindi imposibleng magawa niya nga yun,
"Are you sure na hindi mo lang ako pinagti-tripan? Mamaya sinulatan mo lang yan 'eh. Babatukan talaga kita.", sabi ko sa kanya after a long silence.
"Grabe ka talaga eh 'no? Masakit na nga yung ulo ko tapos babatukan mo pa ako? Promise hindi kita niloloko at paano ko naman masusulatan 'to eh halos hindi ko na nga maalala na may envelope akong natanggap. Tapos nasa bag ko pa 'eh hindi ko naman yung dala kagabi. And for sure, bagsak na rin ako pag-uwi ko so I don't have the energy and time to do that!", napakahaba na naman niyang depensa sa sarili niya.
I can literally see Timmy's face right now na naka-frown dahil sa sinabi ko.
"Okay! I was just making sure that you're not playing with me.", he's so defensive tsk.
