Chapter 18

Maddy's POV

Vira and Matt soon returned without Alice. I glanced at Jaz who looked at vira's hand. I look to. Oh my god. It's Alice's ring.

"Vira, where's Alice?" I ask confused. Vira suddenly looks sad. Oh no. Please no.

"We spread petrol and hay everywhere. We didn't get to light the petrol because we had to escape through a small window in the top of the barn on like a little ledge. Anyway. Alice insisted we give her the matches and run so we did. She succeeded and the barn exploded. It was filled with supplies or something I think. Before it exploded she screamed out "burn in hell Gary". Before we ran, I screamed "burn in hell Gary. Viva la rebels"." Vira explains her story.

"Oh." I say. "I know you were close with her. I'm really sorry. Did you see the fish? That was us. We also threw a knife with a message for Gary attached."

"Good job. We really did a lot didn't we?" Vira says blankly.

"Yeah we actually did. We-" I stop when I hear the transmitter dr jones have me beeping. She's calling me. I answer.

"Hello?"

"Hello Maddy is that you?"

"Yeah it's me."

"I saw Alice's tracker disappear and I have some news."

"Ok well to explain Alice's tracker, she was killed in an explosion. She lit the barn and sacrificed herself to make an impact on Gary. Before she died, she screamed burn in hell Gary. It was her choice."

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry."

"You said you had news?"

"Yes. Well, you see, Tom is working with Gary. We have him tied to a chair because he tried to kill us, what do we do? By the way Matt isn't apart of it. They met on the way to the base. Come back soon. We need you to come back really soon. We don't really know what to do with him."

"Well. You can either keep him there as a hostage or kill him. But make sure Tom doesn't escape if you choose hostage."

"Ok well I'll see you guys soon. Bye."

"Bye." She hangs up.

"Tom's working for Gary." I say.

"Something seemed off with his late night calls to "family"." Matt says. I nod.

"Shall we go back to the submarine?" everyone nods. We check the beach and the hills before rushing out and swimming towards the submarine.

We quickly clamber in and head home. A few more days in a submarine. Hooray. Everyone's sad though. Losing Alice was tragic and unexpected. Yet it was expected after all. People die in a war. We knew it was coming. We just didn't think so soon.

OMG SO CLOSE TO THE END OF THE BOOK. THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE A FOURTH BOOK BUT IT HAS NO TITLE AND COVER YET. ALSO I WILL BE DELETING MY COMING SOON BOOK.
