This is the first chapter and I hope you enjoy! Comment if you have a good title for this chapter.

Roman was a prince from the Sunrise kingdom, first in line for the throne and heir to the land. His younger brother Patton, was also in line to inherit a great deal, but was mostly there as a backup. Not that he was any less important, he was just not expected to take over.

Roman, on the other hand, had as many responsibilities as his father, King Gareth. He was almost 19, a prime age for marriage, and the age where he would start to become a king in everything but name.

He would not assume the position of king until he was 21, when his father would step down and allow him full control over the kingdom.

"Roman!" Patton squealed, bounding into the room where Roman was currently sprawled out on the bed, reading a book.

"Patton." Roman smiled, looking up.

Roman had always loved his brother, and protected him from any harm. In many ways, the boys were both completely different.

Patton was a cheery, bubbly guy, carefree and playful, with almost always a smile on his face. The entire kingdom loved him, and he won the hearts of the people long ago. That was his specialty, and even though he was only 17, there were still many suitors already lined up.

It was the same with Prince Roman, but for different reasons. Any noble with any title was shipping their daughter off to the palace trying to win the heart of the charming prince.

While Patton was attractive in a cute and sweet way, Roman was dashing. His pristine hair that seemed to fall at just the right angle and the toned muscles that were built up after years of training were enough to make any girl swoon. Unfortunately, neither one had found anybody interesting yet.

Roman was the "knight in shining armor" prince, always willing to save the day. He enjoyed lots of things, such as sword fighting and quests, but he also enjoyed singing and dancing. These were less known since it isn't very royal or manly, but he still did it a lot in his free time.

"Whatcha doin?" Patton chirped, bounding over to the lounging prince.

Roman got up and smiled.

"Waiting for my favorite brother to swoop down and save me from my boredom." Roman exclaimed dramatically, pretending to fall over and faint. "Oh I'm so glad he has finally arrived!"

Patton giggled, but played along. "Yes, it is I! Fear not, I will save you!" He stated gallantly, then burst into giggles. Roman soon joined him, and both of them were rolling on the floor laughing.

"Boys?" A soft voice broke them from their fit, a dainty hand tapping on the door. "Are you both in there?"

"Yes mother, you may come in." Roman replied, getting up and dusting himself off, Patton following in suit.

Their mother came in, lightly closing the door behind her. She was an overall fragile thing, and everything about her screamed grace. From the floor length dresses to the perfectly styled hair, she was the embodiment of a queen. She was the calm to their fathers raging storm.

"What can we do for you mother?" Patton asked, going over and hugging their mom, careful not to wrinkle her dress.

Patton got his calm personality from her, sweet and innocent, the apple of the eye. They both had light brown hair and kind twinkling eyes, and a smile that was so loving it could crack even the cruelest of hearts.

"I came to speak to you about next week." She said, pulling back from the hug. "There are many things to discuss."

Roman groaned, and Patton giggled.

"Really mother, I don't see why it is such a big deal." Roman claimed exasperated, but softened at the look their mother gave him.

"It is your 19th birthday ball next week and I will not have anything go wrong!" she exclaimed, walking over to her pouting son. "Why, there you might just meet the perfect girl."

Roman gave Patton a look of sorrow when their mother turned away. No one knew he was gay except for Patton, and he was scared it would break his mother's heart. They both loved her a lot, and they really couldn't handle her sorrow, so they kept it a secret.

"Well!" She said, oblivious to the slight tension that had fallen upon the room. "That is all you need to know. I must attend my other duties and make sure your father hasn't fired half the staff." She smiled softly. They wouldn't put it past him. She turned to both her sons and gave them each a kiss on their cheek. "See you later my darlings." She called as she walked out the door, shutting it behind her.

They each exhaled a breath when she left. Roman looked down and sighed. Patton, taking it as his cue, moved in to comfort his brother.

"Hey don't worry, we will figure something out. At least you can pick who you will marry, so it can be a kind understanding girl who will be your friend throughout your life. After bearing a few heirs, your job is done and you can rule side by side, keeping the kingdom safe." Patton reassured, gently placing a hand on Roman's shoulder. Roman looked up and smiled.

"When you put it that way, it doesn't sound so bad. She could even take the potion that makes you pregnant so we don't have to do all that."

Patton grinned happily. "See! I told you it wouldn't be bad."

Roman looked at his brother affectionately and then pulled him into a hug.

" I don't know what I'd do without you." He whispered, squeezing his arms around his brother. Patton returned the hug.

"I'm not going anywhere." He replied, and Roman hoped to god that was true.
