"Roman!~, time to get up!" A cheery Patton spoke singsongy as he bounded through the door. "We have things to do!~"

"Ugg whyyy Patton. Why do you have to be so cheery in the morning." Roman groaned, hiding his face with a pillow. "It's not natural."

Patton skipped over happily, giggling at the messy lump that was Roman. "Oh come on Ro, today will be fun! Today we get to pick out your outfit remember?"

Roman shot up. "Really? What, how do you know?" He asked excitedly. This was one of the good parts of having a ball. The outfits.

"Mother said it when she spoke to us yesterday. Weren't you listening?" Patton questioned, opening the blinds and getting an outfit laid out. He had long ago shooed the maids away, preferring to do it for his brother himself.

Roman blinked a couple of times trying to remember their mother ever saying that. "Uhh, yeah I was." He responded unconvincingly, getting up and starting to put on his normal outfit.

He noticed distractingly that he was still wearing the necklace from last night, but he had no time to put it back, knowing Patton wouldn't leave long enough so he could. He slipped it under his dress shirt secretly and continued getting ready. Patton was already dressed and groomed, having done so before coming into his brothers room to wake him.

Once Roman was ready, they both went into the hallway together. Breakfast was usually a family affair, but today the king was quite noticeably missing.

"Mother, where is father?" Roman questioned once he sat down. His mother looked up from her toast.

"Oh good morning dears, your father had some important business to attend to. He won't be joining us today."

"That's ok!" Patton hummed, buttering his own toast. Roman nodded and focused on his own breakfast.

Once they were done, the said their farewells and exited the dinning room. Roman had a weird feeling the entire time, like something wasn't right, but he brushed it off. Once they got to the royal seamstress, the feeling was so great he had to address it.

"Patton, something's not right." He told his younger brother, a look of uneasiness on his face. Patton looked at him concerned.

"Kiddo, what's wrong?"

Roman relaxed slightly at the nickname, a habit Patton had had forever, calling even older people "kiddo" as a sign of parental comfort.

"It's just," he sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "I just feel like something is wrong."

Patton gave a look of understanding. "Ok I believe you, you should always trust your gut, especially yours, because you have an uncanny knack for always being right." He said, looking around. "What do you think it is?"

Roman sighed again. "I don't-" he cut off, looking up sharply. "Father." Is all he said, before sprinting down the hallway. Patton ran after him, worry evident on his features. Something wasn't right.
