Virgil breathed hard as he leaned against the castle wall, out of breath from running. He didn't know what to make of what he just witnessed, but his mind was running from all that happened.
He couldn't get Roman's laugh out of his head, the way he tilted his head back and flashed those pearly white teeth, or how the rich sound resonated deep within him. It was nothing like those small polite laughs he had heard from gatherings when Roman first came to the kingdom, it was uncaring, free.
"You idiot, out of all that you can't stop thinking about his laugh? Pay attention to the rest of the scene." Virgil quietly scolded himself, still catching his breath after running so long.
He had been trying to sneak into the sables after they were closed, but then he saw the two boys there and decided to wait it out until they left. Then, Roman came in and did that obnoxiously kind and princely gesture, and then almost caught Virgil, making him run for his life.
How stupid, why did he do that? Virgil never in a million years would have thought Prince Roman would do that. Sure he was kind and didn't seem to be good at everything, but accepting? No royalty aside from he knew aside from himself and Layla were disapproving of the old laws, but a prince from the Sunrise kingdom? He didn't think so.
Still, it was undeniable what he just witnessed, and whether he would like to believe it or not Prince Roman just got down and wiped dirt off of a commoner's outfit. A dress no less. Something was wrong with Virgil's heart, because even though he had been resting for a while it still wasn't slowing down.
Was he wrong about Roman? He had thought of him as just another obnoxious prick trying to weasel his way into the family by marrying Layla and taking the throne, but not one thing Roman has done since he has been there has been evidence to support that.
Virgil would know, he had been following Roman around a lot since he came to the palace. Not in a creepy way! Just to make sure he didn't try anything funny with Layla, and to see his true intentions. Unfortunately, Roman has been nothing but the perfect prince to the staff, his brother, and to Layla. It was frustrating Virgil that this infuriatingly perfect prince had virtually no flaws.
He thought he had finally gotten something after the prince visited Layla's chambers at night, but it turned out all they did was talk! He even went to Layla to confirm it, and she said that Roman was a really amazing guy, and she was happy with how lucky she was. Virgil was finding it harder and harder to hate this man, no matter how much he wanted to.
He pushed himself off the wall he was leaning on and headed towards his sanctuary, coincidently the place him and Roman first met. He needed to clear his head of the seemingly perfect prince, but the one place he went to only had more memories of a blinding smile.
We have a little bit of Virgil's POV, just to see what he thinks of the dashing prince Roman. Also I told you I would post another chapter today, and I delivered hehe. Stay Fabulous folks.
