Dear Darkness,

Dear Darkness,

How does it feel to cause fear or shadow over the eyes of someone at the brink of death? How does it feel to make everyone scurry as the night consumes them? How does it feel when blindness may end in peril because of you? How does it feel when people choose you over light?

Does it feel like power? Does it feel like control? Does it feel like you can have just as much influence as light?

You might be happy about this path you seem to draw for others but let's get one thing straight; darkness would not exist without a little bit of light. People who overcome you are a threat to you, people who learn to live with you are no longer hiding from you. People who fear you are rebelling against you with the light inside them.

The hope inside them.

So thank you for teaching us fear, thank you for showing us that life is not easy. Also, thank you for teaching me that no matter how dark and horrid my mind can be, I would teach myself eventually that no darkness and no fear can tame the maze that's in my head.

Sincerely, G.L.Robles
