"If I like the color pink, does that make me gay?" A 13 year-old confused and developing teenage boy asks.
Life has been established by labels and name, right or wrong, black and white when it's actually much more complex than that. A series of protests, violent spurs, and discriminating acts have hid the world from the true colors; colors that don't have labels, colors that are their to light up the Earth in such a way, people should not be afraid to walk amongst it freely and safely.
It does not make you gay to like pink.
"What if I am gay?"
Gay, bi, straight, trans, straight, white, black, Asian, Latino, etc... the most important thing is happiness. Happiness is the most underrated emotion because it's so rare. These labels are established to stick to a formality that was created by oppressing people who feared change or believed in a book written centuries ago. But what these labels forgot to consider is one's happiness.
Amazingly enough, there are people who understand, who want to be part of a bigger thing; change. No matter what your belief or norms are, being just a little bit considerate and passionate makes all the difference.
If you're gay, then you are gay.
Be happy, be free, be you.
In honor of pride month, you are all worth it.
In honor of the protests, Black Lives Matter.
In honor of the world, be safe and protect the ones who need it the most.
