I waited for the school bus. With it's engine roar getting louder as it approaches. That's when I saw my neighbor, Donald.
Donald?! "What is he doing here," I thought, confused as he didn't have any children. He approaches me, and I tried to ignore him. Then he grabs me as I push his hand away.
"You creep. Get your hands off of me!" I yelled.
He looks casual as ever as if he had done no wrong. Staring at me as if I was insane.
I run back inside, panicked and humiliated. "Mom?"
"What?" Mom asks, with annoyance in her voice.
"Donald tried to touch me at the bus stop," I explained.
She rolled her eyes at me. "GET OUT THERE AND WAIT FOR THE BUS," mom screeches at me dismissively.
I hesitantly waited outside for the bus stop as Mom went off with her boyfriend. Finally, the bus arrives and I board it fast. I chose my seat furthest away from his line of sight. Donald's eyes were glued on me through the window, still and creepy as he is but a figure in the distance. I felt the cool air rushing against the sides of my face.
I got to school and I immediately went to Officer Buzz. I knew I could trust him as he always seemed very respectful and kind. I went up to him quietly as he was eating a cream cheese bagel.
"Hey, Officer Buzz," I said.
Officer Buzz turned around with a look of surprise. He was startled. "Oh hey, Faith, what's up," he responded, curiously.
"This guy named Donald, my next door neighbor, inappropriately touched me as I was waiting for the bus this morning,"
"What?! When did this happen? Do you know him? What did you do?," Officer Buzz was beyond shocked upon hearing this news.
"I ran back inside the house, told mom, and she shooed me away," I said.
Officer Buzz sighed, seeming more disappointed. "I wish I could do something, but without any recorded evidence, the police are unlikely to take this matter seriously."
Officer Buzz went back to finishing his bagel. Then we started talking in general about life and family until class was due. It was pretty nice getting to know him better I thought.
The school day proceeded as normal. Nicole bitched relentlessly bragging about her brothers as superior beings, making my school day a living hell.
"Hey, Faith, how'd you get caught for cheating in the exam?" Nicole mocked, initiating an argument.
"Just leave me alone," I said.
"Or what?! My brothers, Tyler and Charlie will tear you to shreds," Nicole threatened intimidatingly.
I sat in silence, not wanting to fuel the fire even more. She bragged on and on. Maybe her brothers are where she gets her attitude from. She practically worships them. I suppose that this is where she gets it. It makes me wonder what kind of environment she was raised in. Or maybe, rather brainwashed. The world may never know.
