It was a sunny afternoon, and the warm breeze was blowing through an open second floor window of a two-storey house.

"(F/N)!," your mother called from downstairs. "Can you come here for a second?"

Upon hearing her, you immediately stopped what you were doing. You closed the piano and turned and hopped off the bench, eager to find out what she'd called you for. Your mother would always refrain from distracting you from your piano practice, so this must be something special for her to do so.

You ran down the stairs as fast as your tiny legs would carry you, a happy smile on your cherubic face. Anything out of the norm was exciting for you, and you just couldn't wait to find out what it was.

"Yes, mom?" You saw your mother standing by the open front door. When you reached her side, you saw that she was talking to an elderly man.

"(F/N), this is Kageyama Kazuyo-san and his grandson, Tobio-kun."

You look towards the elderly man and the boy who were standing on your front porch. Kazuyo had a kind smile on his face while the little boy beside him was staring intently at the ground.

"Come on, Tobio. Say hello." Kazuyo gently tapped the boy on the shoulder.

The raven haired boy slowly lifted his eyes up to look at you. When his blue eyes met your (e/c) ones, you felt your face heat up and you jumped behind your mother's skirt. You weren't around other kids that much so this was a fairly new experience for you.

"Hello," the little boy started. "Grandpa said to invite you to come to the park with us. We can play on the swings or you could join us in playing volleyball."

After a gentle nudge and an encouraging smile from you mother, you decided to step forward.

"Hello, my name is (L/N) (F/N)," you say shyly. "I can go to the park if mom says okay, but I don't know how to play volleyball."

At your response, the boy's eyes lit up and a grin spread across his face.

"Don't worry! I will teach you!"

Your eyes were drawn to the ball he was holding which you hadn't noticed earlier. It looked to be bigger than your head and it scared you. You were never good with playing with balls. You looked back up to your mom and you saw her smile and nod.

"Go on, (F/N), don't be afraid. It's nice to try something new once in a while. Also, Kazuyo-san and Tobio-kun live two houses down from us. They'll drop you back here later."

Your mom tied your (h/l) (h/c) hair with a ribbon to keep it away from your face when you play. With a gentle push from her, you were off to the park with this boy and his grandfather.

Little did you and the boy know that the day you met on a warm summer afternoon when you were both six years old, was the first day of a colorful and meaningful friendship.
