You were humming on your way to school this morning. You were happy, everything was going really well and you were making new friends.
As you walked, you couldn't help but think about last night and your conversation with Tobio. There were lots of things you wanted to talk about with him. The problem was, there was still an awkward atmosphere between the two of you. You concluded that you both were still trying to figure out how to act around each other, five years is a long time after all.
You were so caught up in your own thoughts that you didn't notice the admiring looks you got from some of the boys as you walked past. You never really thought of boys aside from the ones you were friends with before, so you were oblivious to the attention you were getting now. Plus, you weren't really conscious of your looks and only spent enough time to make yourself presentable for school.
You continued walking, making a mental list of the things you needed to ask Tobio the next time you saw each other. You also thought of Hinata and how he could become such a wonderful friend. Then you remembered you joined the music club and you smiled at the thought of being able to play music with others later. Lots of new things were happening in your life and you were glad you came home.
"Oi, (F/N)."
You were snapped out of your thoughts when someone called your name. You turned towards your right and you were surprised when you saw that Tobio was walking beside you.
"What are you smiling about?"
"T-Tobio-kun! How long have you been there?"
He raised an eyebrow at your question. "Hmm. Not long."
"Ah, gomen, I didn't notice," you say, looking away. You felt embarrassed that you were so caught up in your thoughts that you were oblivious to your surroundings. The last thing you wanted him to think was that his childhood friend had grown from a scaredy-cat klutz to an absent minded one.
As you entered the building, you could still feel his eyes on you, as if waiting for you to continue. When you didn't, he looked ahead. You did the same. When you did so, you became aware of the subtle glances some of the girls gave the tall boy walking beside you. He seemed unaware, or if he were, he did a superb job hiding it.
As you continued walking down the hallway towards your classroom, you felt a tiny heaviness on your chest and you couldn't exactly explain the cause. It was a strange and unpleasant feeling. You've never felt it before in your life, at least not that you could remember.
"Later, (F/N)."
You stopped as Tobio turned to enter his classroom. You looked at him and gave a small smile.
"See you, Tobio-kun," you replied, and continued towards your own classroom a few doors down.
You took a deep breath. It was a good day, and you were determined to keep it that way. No weird, inexplicable feelings were going to get you down.

Kageyama Tobio wasn't one to pay attention to other people's business. He generally kept to himself, and the only others he cared to interact with were his volleyball teammates. You, of course, were the exception.
He had just come from morning practice when he spotted you walking towards the school building. He hadn't planned on hurrying after you as you were a bit of a distance away. He changed his mind, though, when he saw a group of second years look at you when you passed by them.
With a scowl on his face, he jogged up to you and matched his stride with yours. You didn't seem to notice and this irked him even more.
What were you doing daydreaming while walking? You weren't paying attention to your surroundings and in his mind, this made you vulnerable to others who were up to no good.
