"Thank you for helping us, (L/N)-san," Hinata was sat opposite you with his head bowed. "We want to go to Tokyo for the training camp so we need to get passing grades in all our exams."
"I'm happy to be of help, Hinata-kun."
You, Yachi, Hinata, and Kageyama were in the library doing some extra studying. The duo learned that supplemental classes for those who got failing marks were going to be held on the weekend of their training camp and it sent them running to you and Yachi for help.
"(F/N), what does conundrum mean?" Kageyama asked from beside you.
You turned towards him, and you saw that his brows were knitted in both confusion and concentration. This made you smile. You leaned towards him to see what he was reading. "Hmm.. sometimes you can get a clue of the word's meaning from the sentence itself, but I think conundrum means something confusing, like a difficult problem."
"I see.." he nodded in understanding and turned towards you. "It's like when I think about how best to score against a team with very good defense when it seems like none of our strategies work."
"Exactly!" You replied enthusiastically. "I think I came across a book which can help you with context clues - which means finding the meanings of difficult words by how they are used in a sentence. I'll go get it!"
You didn't wait for his reply. You stood and headed towards the tall shelves of books. You were unaware that Kageyama's gaze followed you until you turned a corner and disappeared from his sight. You scan the rows of books until you found the one you were looking for. There was a problem though, the book was on the top shelf.
Determined to get the book for Tobio, you reached up as far as you can on your tiptoes. You tried again and again, but the book was just out of your reach. You tried once more, for the last time, and your fingers just grazed the edge of the top shelf.
You were about to give up when you suddenly felt someone behind you. You could feel the warmth from that person's body on your back which means they were standing really close. You looked up and saw long fingers reach towards the book, and as they did so, the person's body pressed flush against yours.
"Is this the one you wanted?" His breath tickled your ear as he asked.
You gasped as you heard the familiar voice. Your face suddenly felt very warm and you could feel your heart hammering in your chest.
"T-Tobio-kun!" You barely managed to say his name. "W-what are you d-doing?!"
You felt him pull back a little so he could look at your face.
"You clearly couldn't reach," he answered matter-of-factly.
"You followed me here?"
"You were taking so long."
"U-umm.. I-I can't move, Tobio-kun."
There was silence as he suddenly realized how firmly he was pressed up against you. The moment he moved back, you turned around.
Big mistake.
His face was merely inches away and you could feel his breath on your cheek. Both your eyes widened in surprise. You could feel your face burning in embarrassment.
"(F/N), I-" he started but suddenly turned his head away.
You stared as he stepped back and handed you the book. You lowered your head to hide the blush on your cheeks, and silently took the object from his hand.
"Thank you," you whispered.
"No problem," he answered before turning and walking back to where Hinata and Yachi were. You followed after a few moments after.
