Chapter Thirty-Six: The final dream. Part 2

There are always idiots who claim that it's better to have loved a person rather than to have completely lost them.

Clearly the complete idiot that made this claim wasn't aware that it's far worse to have the one you love not love you back.

I guess the protagonist of a story doesn't always get a happy ending with a big white poofy wedding gown or a kiss in the middle of a field or even a grand gesture.

Some people are made to soak all of that up the others are meant to watch it happen or rather pull the hands of time and mess with every fabric in existence to make the event take place.

To make Laura-Jean write Peter's letter.
To make Noah sit with Elle in the car.
To make Prince Charming find Cinderella.

To make Tyler call Zack.

I brushed back my hair one last time before knocking, almost immediately Alejandro opened the door then stepped out before letting me in.

Zack was on his bed with two bags of food and his laptop out, looking ever so handsome as he went through something on the laptop.

"Hey." I said and he looked up then frowned,
"I told you not to do anything dumb and you go and smash his car then beat him into submission?" He asked and I smiled chuckling lightly,
"It wasn't dumb, it was a completely rational decision." I said,
"I see." He said closing his laptop before scanning my form and getting up and coming back with a first aid kit,
"Come on let's deal with your knuckles." he patted the space next to him and I nodded sitting next to him, he worked on my knuckles with some acetone,
"So are you ready to tell me what's wrong?" He asked and I sighed the guy really did know how to read me,
"Promise you won't over react." I said and he froze knowing that it was about to get serious,
"What's wrong?" He asked his hands coming up to my cheeks, I closed my eyes lightly feeling the words gather in my throat not wanting to come out,
"I...I'm...I'm leaving HDF." I said and his expression shifted like he were struck by a thousand bolts of lightening his face paled,
"What?" He asked and I placed my hands over his,
"I'm leaving HDF, I'm going to Oxford and it's my decision Zack, so please don't try to change my mind." His hands dropped,
"Is it because of something at school? I'll send out a fucking army to make it perfect I swear." I smiled shaking my head,
"No, I just chose to switch. It's not going to cost us anything,I'm just a bus ride away and there's phones and face time." He bit his lip holding back his tears.

"Is it because we had sex?" He asked his eyes boreing into mine and I shook my head,
"No, it's because I think it's for the best." I smiled and he pulled me into his chest,
"Is it really what you want?" He asked and I nodded.

"It's what I need." I said into his chest and he placed his chin over my head.

"I'm gonna miss you." He said,
"I'm transferring next year." I said and he nodded,
"Still gonna miss our coffees and sleepovers." He said and I heard a quiver in his voice,
"Zack, we'll be okay." I said pulling away.

"Plus I've decided to get a few things off my chest." I said wiping the tears that had fallen.

"Like?" He asked and I took another deep breath,

"The reason I went to juvi." He nodded,
"I sold drugs a while back and took some too...remember Emma Maxwell?" I asked and he nodded,
"Well she stole ecstasy from me the night she jumped off the roof and into the pool." I said running a hand through my hair,
"How did that put you in juvi? She committed suicide." I shook my head,
"No, she thought she could fly because of the drugs and died I turned myself in after i kept having  dreams and they took me to juvi." He shook his head,
"No, Emma wrote a whole suicide note and the principle read it aloud to us all while you were in juvi." I shook my head failing to understand what he just said,
"She killed herself?"I asked again and he nodded,
"Yeah, it was never your fault, the drugs were on her though so maybe you softened the blow." I felt my chest fall slightly.

It was never me.

I didn't kill her.

I didn't kill her.

"Aria, she killed herself because she couldn't handle the pressure of highschool, she was only Seventeen but was in all the advanced classes and still remained popular, she was tired of the pressure, you didn't kill her." I nodded slowly letting it sink in.

We sat there talking for a while before I decided to shower and he went to warm up our food.

The shower washed off dirt and blood and also guilt, I'd blamed myself for being irresponsible with the drug but it wasn't about me.

Three years of pure shit all for a death that had set the soul free and let me trap my own.

I turned off the water patting myself down to dry then putting on the shirt and shorts Zack hand lent to me.

I looked into the mirror of the small bathroom, my eyes indeed still had bags under them and a bruise had formed on my jaw but I was okay I guess.

I stepped out and Zack was already in his bed with the laptop in front of him he patted the area next to him and I sat there my legs covered by his duvet.

He handed me my food and i smiled,
"Which movie?" He asked and I looked at all the options,
"How about Edge Of Seventeen?" I asked and he nodded switching on the movie.

We ate our burgers in comfortable silence whilst the movie played before i put mind down,
"Hey Zack?" He looked at me,
"Yeah?" I smiled lightly,
"Am I a bad person?" I asked and he shook his head,
"No, your just human and I'm not sure we humans are either good or bad." I nodded finishing my meal as he did his and shifting into his heated frame.

There was still one more thing to get off my chest.

"Zack?"

...

"Yeah?"

...

"I love you." I said looking up at him and he smiled,

"I love you too Arianna Ignasia Sedio."

I shifted into his warmth and fell asleep.

There was a lot of light that quickly became pearly white.

I stood there, well subconscious me stood her blonde hair in a bun and her in a plain white dress.

"It's been a while." She said and I nodded,
"Yeah." I said and she smiled,
"You've changed." She said and i shook my head,
"No I haven't."
"Yes you have, I mean come on, this is the first time you aren't in water." She said and i nodded,
"That is a change." I said and she nodded as I looked around then back at her, she stood still as I walked towards her as she did to me and when I tried to touch her she tried to touch me too.

It was then that I realised she was a mirror.

She couldn't leave I still had questions.

"Where are you?" I asked and I was met with silence,

"What am I supposed to do with this mirror?"

Still no answer.

"Who pushed me into the water?"

I called out again and then there was a voice.

"The only person that had the power to save you."
