Practice Makes... Me Nervous

What was wrong with Yumeko during lunch? Is she jealous of me or the president, I can't tell! And why did she go back to normal when we went back into the lunchroom? Was that really all that was bothering her? Why is this crazy stuff happening all at once??

To say I was distracted during my last few classes was a huge understatement. Not only did I have to worry about my tutoring session with the president after school, but now I was also worrying about Yumeko and her strange behavior earlier. How do teachers even expect us to focus when we go to a school like this?

I have to admit, this was probably the most nervous I'd ever been in my life. I was walking down the hallway to the student council's office, honestly just trying to keep myself from collapsing right then and there. Could I remember a single thing from what I learned last night? Most definitely not.

What made things even worse, though, is that when I opened the door to the office, the rest of the student council was still in there finishing up their meeting! Meaning that they all turned to look at me when I opened the door. Which, of course, did not help make things any better.

"Shit! Oh, uh... I'll just wait out here then," I squeaked, and quickly closed the door. I heard murmuring through the now-closed door, no doubt wondering why I of all people would be coming to meet someone from the student council.

Eventually, they started to clear out, some of them giving me weird looks as they passed by. When I re-entered the room, I saw Sayaka quietly questioning the president, seeming very agitated. Kirari was unbothered by her pestering, though, and instead was focused on me.

"Ah, (Y/n), there you are. I'm sorry if the other members made you uncomfortable," She gave a pointed look to Sayaka, "But I don't exactly keep them updated on everything I do. So, they tend to have rather... extreme reactions." She gave me a small smile and gestured to the couches, where there was an assortment of games laid out.

"Um, okay," I said. Holy fuck. This is actually happening! Sayaka took this as her cue to leave, but not before giving me a pretty nasty look. Jeez. What did I ever do to her? I sat down, and hey, look who returned! My long time friend, Leg Bounce! Which got even worse when Kirari sat down right next to me

"Don't worry about her, she's just overprotective." She then put her hand on my lower thigh in an attempt to calm me. It had the opposite effect, but I was too shocked to move therefore her goal to get my leg to stop moving was accomplished. "So, which game would you like to start with? There are many variations of poker, along with some-"

"If you don't mind, I'm just gonna stop you right there. I've like, never done this before, so which one's the easiest?" I interrupted.

"Hmm... Let's just start with regular poker for right now, that is a rather common game after all," she suggested.

"Okay then," I said as she reached across the table to grab a deck of cards. She then opened them and started to shuffle the brand new deck.

"Out of the most common variations of poker, we will be playing '5 Card Draw', which can be played with just two people. You know the order of the value of the cards, correct?" Okay, I do know that much

"Yes, Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and then down to two," I replied.

"Good. Now for the combinations; the highest hand you could get is a Royal Flush, meaning the five highest valued cards all from the same suit. The next highest is a Straight Flush, which is a hand with the same suit of cards ranged ten to six. Then, would be Four of a Kind, which is exactly what it sounds like, and it uses the same value ranking depending on which four you get," she explained. Sadly, this was just the beginning. Damn, I should probably be taking notes on this, there's no way I'll remember.
