Everyone was in the dining area eating breakfast—well, almost everyone. Lance and Keith weren't there. The others weren't that worried about where Lance or Keith was because sometimes Keith would skip breakfast to train and Lance was always late due to his morning routines.

A few minutes later emerged the blue paladin. Everyone said their good mornings and continued to eat. Hunk made breakfast that day since he was tired of Coran's food goo. He used some of the food items he got from the space mall to cook the team space pancakes.

"Where's mullet?" Lance asked.

Pidge shrugged "Probably training since he always does that."

"He isn't missing breakfast this time." Shiro said in a fatherly tone. "Lance, Can you go get Keith?"

The lanky brown skinned male looked visibly offended as if Shiro had told him to go fuck himself. Why was it that he has to go out of his way to go get his rival? Keith should know not to skip breakfast because it's the most important meal of the day. Regardless Lance went to go get Keith anyways. Of course he didn't do the task silently, he was muttering curse words in Spanish as he walked to the training deck. Once he got near the door to the training deck he was surprised. He didn't hear any grunts or metal clashing. The doors flew open and Lance was welcomed by a empty training deck. There was no robot and there was no Keith. Lance was perplexed. Did Keith sleep in? It's not like Keith to sleep in.

Lance went Keith's room and rapped his knuckles on the door. "Mullet, get up! Shiro says you aren't missing breakfast this time!" Lance shouted from the metal door.

No response.

He exhaled and said "Alright, I'm coming in."

The doors flew open and Lance walked in. "Rise and Shine sleeping beauty." Lance said, creeping towards the older boy. Keith was gently wrapped around blanket sleeping soundly. It was strange to see the red paladin look at ease. Normally he'd be frowning and throwing an attitude.

"Wake up dude." Lance said gently shaking Keith but he didn't wake up. Lance took it upon himself to pull the blanket off Keith. He didn't even shiver. After those failed attempts, he decided to do what his mother would do when he wouldn't get out of bed. He turned on the lights, I know, scary.

Another failed attempt.

"Keith?" Lance said shaking Keith a bit harder.

He didn't wake up.

Lance was studying Keith's skin. It looked paler than usual. Lance touched grazed his fingers across Keith's face and his eyes grew wide. Keith's skin was cold as ice. "Keith!?" Lance yelled roughly shaking the older boy.

Keith didn't wake up.

Lance then leaned his ear on Keith's chest to hear his heartbeat. Lance's heart dropped when he didn't hear a single thump. "Keith, wake up buddy!" Lance was freaking out.  No, he was panicking. He abruptly stood up and ran out the room. He ran all the back to the dining area where the rest of the team were at.

Lance didn't even notice the tears  streaming down his cheeks, he wouldn't admit it aloud but he cared deeply about Keith despite the stupid rivalry he came up with. Right now, Lance feared for Keith's life.

"Guys!" Lance's voice cracked. Everyone looked at Lance as they saw fat tears in his eyes.

"What's wrong Lance?" Pidge quickly got up and walked towards lance.

"Where's Keith?" Shiro asked.

Lance just shook his head slowly.

Shiro was concerned at this point. "Lance, Where is Keith?" Shiro asked again sternly.

"K-Keith is in bed.." Lance managed to pull himself together to tell the others where Keith is. "Well, Why are crying?" Pidge asked.

"I-I went to the training deck to get K-Keith but he wasn't in there, so I went to his room and-" Lance started sobbing all over again.

"He kicked you out?" Hunk asked.

Lance shook his head.

"He yelled at you?" Pidge asked.

Lance shook his head faster.

"Then what did he do?" Shiro asked getting a bit annoyed by Lance's lack of information.

"I-I went to wake him up and..he didn't wake up. I-I kept shaking him trying to wake him up, but he just wouldn't." Lance attempted to explain the best he can, but ending up almost bawling his eyes out.

"I-I put my ear on his chest to hear his heart beat and I didn't hear one!" Lance cried. Everyone quickly got up and ran out the dining room. They ran towards Keith room and waited impatiently for his doors to fly open and once they did everyone rushed inside.

Shiro rushed to Keith's side and checked his pulse. There was no thump, no warmth of the skin. It was the truth. The members of voltron glanced at the taller male, expecting an answer but it never came.

The silence was enough to tell them that they had lost their red paladin overnight. Shiro lifted the male gently and revealed to the team his lifeless body.

They weren't crying before, but they certainly are now.
