I made my way promptly to the superintendent's small office space and knocked on the half opened door.

"Enter."

A gruff voice ordered.

"Good morning sir. I heard you wanted to see me?" I ask feeling  excited about what my boss wanted to talk to me about, I hope it was that well earned promotion.

"Good morning Britney, yes take a seat." He said pointing to a rickety chair opposite his desk.

The superintendent was an extremely muscular guy with specks of gray hairs sprinkled in his head and mustache. He looked about in his 40s and resembled a professional weight lifter that could do critical damage with only of his bulging hands.

"Today we will be discussing your most important assignment here in the force. You know well about the existence of the 'Job Finders' agency that uses the pretense of a work and travel program for university students right?"

"A little, what about them?"

The agency allows Jamaican students to sign up and give the false hope of them getting employment in legitimate industries overseas, particularly in New York. That's just a pretense because they actually force the unknowing candidates to work in a club involved in the sex trade.

"Yes sir, I am aware of that group but  haven't they been apprehended yet?"

"Unfortunately not and we need an agent to infiltrate the agency to get some crucial information to build against this organization that seeks to destroy our youth and eradicate them."

"Okay and who do you have in mind to carry out that infiltration operation?"

"Well actually we had you in mind, everyone nominated you to go."

"You have to be kidding me, of all people, your joking right?"

"Nope your the most persistent and hard working agent we have. Your passionate and dedicated to the job.  Your also young and this makes you a  perfect candidate to go to university."

"Go to university, what do you mean?"

"You look young and are among a few small numbers of our agents that look the part of a recent high school graduate."

"I didn't go to university before for a valid reason. I just entered the force because I'm not good at academics. What would I even tell my mother and family?"

"Just tell them that your going to university for the time to get a degree and further your studies besides that is partly  the truth anyway, so you won't be liable to be totally lying to your mother."

" I don't have a good feeling about this. Are you sure I'm the best person for this job?"

"Trust me you are.

"Okay but I do have a question wouldn't it be the responsibility of the American government since their operations are in their terrain."

"Yes, normally that would be the case but they are not having much progress as there are enormous amounts of corrupt cops that are facilitating these traffickers and are essentially benefiting from there activities.

I will give you a week to think this through and get back to me with your answer, okay?"

"Okay, thank you."

By the end of the week I decided that I would do what was necessary to help crack the case and debunk this ring that took away the innocence of our country's girls.

The university was already aware of the arrangement. I was to do the same work and assignments and presentations like any other students just to keep up appearances. The force took care of the expenses and I was just to be admitted into the work and travel program as that was my destiny and sole purpose to be going to the university.

The first day was a catastrophe and I felt the jitters of a first day of high school or a new class.  I was falling asleep in the lectures and my grades were awful. I knew then tertiary education was definitely not for me and I was right to not want to go on my own.

I believed that working my way up through the ranks of any job I did was how you leveled up and achieved great things, not going to college and tearing out my hair over names of theories I could not even pronounce. I

tipped my hat off for all those ambitious students that made it looked easy but I was not one if them.

I've done petty cases before like robberies, domestic disputes, noise abatement issues but this was my biggest and most dangerous case. I had to play the victim until the time was right and I could make my move. I risked losing my life and even my dignity. But I had to keep my cool or I would be compromising the chance of nailing those criminals.

Everytime I thought of what those young college girls had to go through: separated from their families, countries and the futures that they worked so hard for, it gave me the determination I required to carry out the task at hand.

A police officer had nothing if they lacked guts even if they knew they were out of their league.

This was the number one reason I said yes to this job that could potentially kill me. It was a risk I was willing to make. The classes got more hideous and annoying and I grew to regret the necessity.

I then saw something that sparked my interest on a flimsy poster on the notice board near the girl's restroom. A poetry contest that called to all year students to enter their poetry pieces for a chance to win a trip to a water park. It sounded like the best vacation to ease some of the tension in my body really. I entered the competition and met Kevin and understood what it was to find home in someone.

He helped me with my projects and assignments as he was a year above me and had went through all of them already. This allowed me to start enjoying my time in college and he made me laugh a lot and I started to love this until it was time for me to sign up for the agency.

I went to all the other booths on that faithful day and acted as if I was interested and then I went to the last one, jackpot. The two representatives were African Americans and were very friendly and engaging. I could easily see how they used this to their advantage to rope in eager girls. Deception was their trump card and they played it effectively.

They provided me with numerous brochures and also gave me the website information so I could have more information to make up my mind. I signed up on the spot because there was no reason to delay the inevitable, I thought and do it online. And that is how I got here

and I regretted nothing. Let them come if they will and when they do I'll be ready.
