"Good morning officer, sure give me a second." The taxi driver said shuffling through the glove compartment in the front of his car, that was beside his feet.

The officer's gaze strays to where we sat in the back. My eyes and his piercing, blue orbs connected and made four.He was white as could be, with a crop of blonde, straight, hair, a  constellation of freckles sprinkled his nose. He also had muscular arms that looked like they were about to burst out of his dark, navy blue uniform.

He had a badge with a name that read Tom.

" Oh, what do we have here? I didn't see that there were passengers in here too." He said focusing his attention at us and motioning for us to wind down our window. I was the one nearest to the door so I started reaching my hand out to push the button that controlled the window; my hand shaking a little.

"Good morning officer." I said greeting him before he did so.

"Good morning ladies. Why were you guys hiding from me,huh?" He said with a hint of sacarasm in his voice.

"We weren't officer, we swear." Amanda said in a high pitched voice mimicking the playfulness the man was exhibiting.

"I'm just joking, miss."

Tom said smiling.

"I know you are, but I'm not." She said batting her long, synthetic eyelashes and looking up at the officer making me feel uncomfortable being caught in the middle of the exchange.

"Do you have the documents I asked for?" The officer said while giving Amanda a seductive smile in return.

"Yes, here they are sir."

He then walked towards the front and took the papers from the driver.

He flipped through the papers and skimmed the surface of the information presented in the documents. All the while his face was contorting in different expressions. Finally he looked up from the papers and gave a coy smile.

"Mr. Diaz are you are aware that your insurance is going to be up tomorrow?"

"Yes officer, I will be renewing it."

"Okay Make sure that do you. What I want to really, really, really know though, is what you folks are doing out here parked in the sun in front of this nice neighbourhood, stalking these nice people."

The officer said and all the coyness and playfulness drained out of his voice. The calm expression on his face was replaced by seriousness, that only law enforcers were able to weild on and off like, their own special super power.

Everyone remained silent sensing that the storm was beginning to brew underneath the surface and not dearing to rouse it up even more.
