Half an hour later Damian is dressed and comes in the kitchen where myself and the other girls were. Amanda was around the stove as well pretending to be cooking breakfast. He comes in the kitchen and not even glancing in our direction and doesn't even acknowledge or say anything to Amanda. He then retrieves the key from the island and exits the room and goes through the door as silently as he came in. I think he is trying to mess with our minds and set us all on edge, he was trying to torture us and it was working.
The moment Amanda heard the door slam she turnt off the stove and starting walking towards the general direction of the front door. I followed closely behind her, as she went to the door and looked through the window in the the foyer to make sure that Damian had driven out the driveway. She quickly whips out her phone from her jeans pocket and then cradles it against her ears.
"I am ready now, you can drive to the front." She said.
"Was that the taxi driver?"
"Yeah he's been parked around the corner. You need to put on your shoes now we're ready to go."
"Okay sure."I then went upstairs to put on my sneakers. This mission calls for a fitting footwear, just to be prepared if things were to ever turn ugly. In case we were discovered and had to take foot. When I went downstairs I saw that Amanda was already outside. I went outside and saw a cab waiting at the front while Amanda frantically waved through the open window at me.
I walked quickly towards it and felt the crisp, cool air of the early morning swishing pass my ears, it felt so good on my feverish skin.
"Good morning." I greeted the driver as he pulled off the curb and drove down the fairly deserted street.
I looked to my right at Amanda as she started tapping away at her phone like a maniac. She pulled up something that showcased an aerial footage of an area and a red line going through the image. I made a double take and then finally realized what Amanda was looking at.
" Seriously your tracking him?!" I said in a strained surprised voice not wanting the the driver to hear.
" Yes, how did you think I could follow him and know where he was headed if I wasn't tracking him?"
"That is badass though, your like my ultimate role model."
" I know, I'm great." Amanda said flipping her hair while we both bust out laughing.
"Please dont allow it to swell your head. He looks like he's still moving. Have you ever been with him to meet one these persons?"
" Actually I did once but he strickly instructed me to stay in the car and besides it was a long time I don't remember where we went."
"So whats the plan, are we just going to stalk out in the cab and see what happens?"
"Yeah we need to know who he's associated with. Did you remember the camera I told you to bring?"
"Yup, I have it right here." I said pointing on the bagpack in my lap that I had the camera in.
" Good. I need you take a right at the stop light here and continue straight until I instruct you again."
"Sure no problem." The driver said looking at us through the mirror in the back seat.
" How much are you even paying him to do this?" I whispered to Amanda not wanting the man to ear.I was curious.
"Too much apparently but it's for a good cause, wouldn't you agree."
"Yes totally I'm all in."
" Okay. Jooey can you take a left at the upcoming intersection please. We're almost there now it's about four more blocks."
"Is that close?I don't really get the concept of blocks. I'm sorry I'm from Jamaica where our direction consists of things like around the corner or up the hills."
I said remembering a video I saw some months ago of an elderly man giving directions to a driver the thought brought a smile to my lips.
"I'm sorry I sometimes I forget. We'll be there any minute now, honey."
A few minutes later we pulled up on the curb of an avenue filled with 'Beverly Hills worthy houses'. We were parked across the street from a huge two story house where there was familiar Rolls Royce parked in the front along with four other luxury cars. My thought is that those other cars probably belonged to other sponsors that were in the house. We sat in the car till the sun reached its zenith in the sky which made the cramped space of the car hot. There was still no tangible development in our operation as yet.
Then as I was dozing off I caught a glimpse of someone standing by the front door. I started shaking Amanda's shoulder to wake her up. I wasn't able to recognize who it was as they were too far away. As Amanda wiped vigorously at her eyes, the door soon closed soon after leaving us in suspense once more.
We sat alert sure we would see someone else come out the door, as it had been a long time but instead the bellowing of a siren become even more prominent behind us. When we turnt around to the back of the car our worst fears were realized in the form of a white and blue police car.
My heart started to beat out of my chest as the car cruised to a stop and a police officers immediately alighted from the vehicle making his way to the driver's side of the taxi. I turnt and looked at Amanda her eyes we're filled with worry and panic I bet the same way mine was. She started squeezing my hand in hers as the officer came to a stop and lowered himself to look directly through the window at the driver.
"Good morning sir. Can I see your license and registeration?"
