Lifetimes

- 19 Muzan -

After leaving the room, the trio sprinted through the mess halls once again. Y/n's confidence lifted, this time with her friends by her side, she felt more secure. The trio followed the directions given by the crow, trying to reach Muzan with the others. 

''Who the fuck designs a place like this?'' Sanemi panted, cringing at the surroundings. ''Tell me about.'' Y/n replied, obviously feeling the same. Gyomei leads the group, jumping from rooms to rooms, turning swift corners. Y/n breezily followed the other two, but her heart was pounding from both excitement and anxiety of getting to battle Muzan. 

Suddenly, out of nowhere, the ground of the fortress started to rumble. ''Is the place shaking??!'' Sanemi called out, holding onto a wooden pillar for support. ''What do you think??'' Y/n shouted, falling onto the floor.  With that, the fortress started to rise with a sudden force. 

This causes the trio on fall against the floor due to the impact. The speed of the fortress rising caused Y/n to cry in pain, trying to hold her body close to her in order to not fall apart. Realising that they were headed for the surface, Gyomei reached out and grabbed the other two. He shields his larger body over the other two as her fears they might not survive the impact. 

Y/n gripped tightly onto the Stone Pillars haori, praying for their lives as their bodies high the hard surface. Dirt fell beside them as the wood surrounding them falls into pieces. The three held on together tightly. ''fuck...this...'' Sanemi cursed, gripping onto the two. 

Finally, oxygen rushed into their lungs blessing it. The trio panted silent, still in each other's embrace.  Y/n slowly rose her head, trying to make out what's around them. ''Guys...We're still trapped beneath the wooden boards....'' she coughed, as wood dust floated in the air. 

The other two coughed, disturbed by the dust in the air. slowly, the three broke apart, trying to help lift the boards off them as much as possible. ''Let's be quick about it. Muzan is probably still alive. Now that he's on the surface, it's easier to defeat him.'' Gyomei coughed, removing the boards. 

''Yea. We'll burn him into crisp with the sun!'' The wind Pillar chuckled, kicking a wooden board. ''Aha! found the way out.'' Sanemi chuckled, pushing his way and climbing out of the mess. Y/n was small, not to mention much shorter, she couldn't reach the same opening as Sanemi did. 

Without another second lost, Gyomei effortlessly lifted the girl up as she took hold of the board, pulling herself up next to Sanemi. The Wind Pillar, along with Y/n, pulled the Stone Pillar right up the opening. Y/n was relieved to finally be able to breathe in the fresh air.

The sound of slashing and whooping of buildings thundered from a distance away. Without exchanging words, the three knew what was going on.

''Ahaa!'' A scream erupted from the lips of the Love Pillar. A powerful attack swung towards her, giving her no time to react. Right as she thought she was done for, a strong force blocked the attack, saving the Pillar. 

The sound of metal chains rang through the air as the others search for what had happened. The Stone Pillar stood proud on his feet, swinging his spiked flail in the air. ''Sorry for being late,'' he spoke, ready for any attack. 

Y/n rushed in and swooped Mitsuri off the ground, making her move. ''Don't stay at one spot...we have to keep moving.'' the violet-eyed girl warned. Meanwhile, the Wind Pillar had gone directly for Muzan's head, slicing its body into half. Even if the cut of effective, Muzan still managed to regenerate immediately, closing his body together. 

Sanemi threw bottles containing weird substances at the demon before leaping off. The demon was immediately engulfed in flames, distracting it, allowing the others to catch their breath.  As quickly as it appeared, the fire died out, allowing Muzan to regain himself.
