K2 sat in his apartment, alone. It was the next day after he agreed to protect the girl from mafia.

He always thought that his last project should be a little more dramatic and his wish was granted. Now here he sat with a file in his hands, reading about the girl he had to protect. He was also, side by side, looking up for the mafia leader that wanted her.

He looked at her picture. She had big grey green eyes, nubian shaped nose and full lips. Her hair were dark brown and straight which came to her waist. She stood tall at 5 foot 6 inches.

She's pretty.

K2 couldn't deny this fact. Also he had a thing for long haired girls. He looked at the information regarding her and read it.

Her name was Krystle Dsouza. She was 22 and a Catholic. Her father was unknown. Her mother was Gwen Dsouza. The father left her and her mother when she was just born and only her mother knew who the father was. She only had her mother growing up.  Her mother worked as a cook all her life until she died two years ago from cardiac arrest.

Krystle did her schooling from St. Xavier School. She had done English honours from St Xavier college but before she could apply for a job, her mother died. This forced her to accept any job available for pending bills and payments. So she started working at High Hopes History as a receptionist. Her job was from 9 am to 9 pm.

"Sad life." K2 muttered as he finished reading about her. He looked at her address. Her house was close to the hospital but very far from his apartment.

He then looked at the information of the mafia leader who wanted her.

Tony Kapoor. He was 55

"Gross! She's the age of your grand daughter for God's sake." K2 spoke, disgusted. Nevertheless, he continued.

He owned a large shoe business company but people knew about his shady life too. He ran a mafia, smuggling illegal weapons, drugs and also supported human trafficking.

K2 was disgusted by this man. How could someone sell a person was beyond him. He read all about Tony. Apparently, police knew about his illegal work but didn't have enough evidence to lock him up.
K2 sighed, rubbing his eyes before he read about Tony on the internet. The articles told different stories about his dark life but all of them ended with one same thing

The police didn't have anything on him, so he's a free man.

K2 closed the tab on his laptop after reading almost every article. He didn't find anything important in them. Deciding he knew enough about Tony, he moved to the businessman who wanted protection for Krystle. He opened a fresh tab and logged into his email.

He wished to remain anonymous so he didn't gave them his name. K2 tried finding about him from the number he called but the number was switched off. After their initial talk, the man started writing mails to them. The mails were also encrypted but he didn't know he was working with K2.

After clicking a few keys here and there, a page containing all information regarding the man was loaded in front of K2.

"Nobody messes with me." K2 spoke smugly, a smirk on his face as he read about the man.

He was Dev Patel.

K2 snickered. His name was like a protagonist's father's name. He read on.

He was a employee in a company called 'Kapoor and Sons'. Surprisingly, this company belonged to none other than Tony Kapoor.

"Maybe that's how Dev knew that Tony was behind Krystle. But why does he care for her?" K2 asked aloud to no one in particular. He just couldn't understand why Dev wanted to protect Krystle.

"Is he her father?" K2 could only come up with this reason. He looked at Dev's picture. He was a average height man with a protuding belly. He couldn't find any resemblance between him and Krystle.

"This is getting confusing."

Dev didn't get married and his life was pretty normal.

"What you are hiding?" K2 spoke to the Dev's photo.

A ding was heard in the quiet room as K2 received a mail. It was from Dev. He opened it, finding a message from him.

Hello agent.

I told you about Krystle. Someone is going to attack her tonight. I heard this from my sources and they never lie. Save her.

DL

"Shit!" K2 cursed as he quickly logged out from his mail and shut down the laptop. He didn't fully believed him but he didn't want to take any chances with Krystle.

She was his responsibility now.

Grabbing his phone and bike keys, he locked the house behind and rushed to his bike. He opened his garage with the remote and took out his bike before closing it.

Putting the key into ignition, he started the bike, revving it, and took off to Krystle's house. It was a good thing he learnt her address but it was far from here. He hope to get there on time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After driving like a maniac and nearly having an accident, K2 stood in front of her house, 40 minutes later. It was situated inside a society and he easily fooled the guard.
He tried opening the front door and not surprisingly it was locked. By now he could feel his heart thudding loudly in his chest. He couldn't break the front door so he ran to the back side of the house. There were many windows and he could easily break them. He went to one in particular and peeked inside. What he saw made his heart drop.
A man was on top of a girl, apparently Krystle, who was lying still under him.
"Shit!"
K2 backed away from the window and looked for something to break the window. He found a plant pot not far  from him and he rushed to pick it up.
He stood in front of the window again and smashed the glass with pot. Throwing the pot away, he jumped inside the house. He grabbed the man from behind, making him stand up before punching him straight in the face. His face was covered with a mask but that did not stop K2 from beating the hell out of him.
A few minutes later the man was unconscious and K2 stood over him.
Suddenly he remembered Krystle. He turned around and saw blood on her forehead.
"Krystle? Krystle!" He shouted as touched her cheek to wake her up. But she was long gone in unconsciousness.
