The next day we started out at first light, trudging through the snow which had gone from being beautiful to just cold. When you've even slept in snow, it begins to lose it's magical appearance. Reaching a small dip we stare out at a wide expanse of white, Mr beaver must have noticed me looking because he explains where we need to go and where we are.
"Aslan's camp should be not too far, we just have to cross the frozen river." He explains.
"River?" Susan asks.
"Oh the river's been frozen for a hundred years." Mrs Beaver says with a laugh.
"It just looks so...big..." I say feeling tired just looking at it.
"It's the world dear, did you expect it to be small?" Mrs Beaver asks with a slightly comedic tone.
"Smaller." Susan says looking at me with a smirk.
Smiling we begin to make our way along the ice, I was expecting it to be slippery but since it's almost always snowing here the ice has been covered in a tick layer of snow making it easy to walk on. However when we started walking I didn't expect it to be thins long of a walk, despite the cold conditions. It's about mid day when the four of us start to lag behind, Mr Beaver looks back at us and yells.
"Come on humans, while we're still young." He says walking along happily.
"If he tells us to hurry up one more time." Peter says kneeling down so Lucy can climb onto his back. "I'm going to turn him into a big fluffy hat."
"Hurry up! Come on!" He calls again.
"He is getting a little bossy." Lucy says agreeing.
"No behind you! It's her!" Mrs Beaver yells causing us all to break into a run.
Peter drops Lucy and pulls her along as we run, I take hold of Susan's hand making sure that she doesn't lag behind. Seeing trees getting closer the beavers lead us into a small cave like structure which should give us some good coverage, I pull Susan close and try to steady my breathing. Everyone stay's silent hearing the crunching of snow as someone walks towards where we're hiding, the figure pauses for a moment and then walks away.
"Maybe I should look." Peter suggests in a whisper.
"No, you're worth nothing to Narnia dead." Mr Beaver says beginning to move.
"Neither are you beaver." She pleads in a whisper.
"Thanks sweetheart." He says taking her paws in his own.
He then begins to sniff the air and moves out of our little hole, he's gone for a couple of minutes before popping his head in for us to see him.
"Boo!" He says with a chuckle, causing Lucy to scream. "I hope you've all been good, because there's someone here to see ya!"
Confused we make our way back up onto the snow to see a man dressed in dark red clothes and a white beard on his face, excitement is clear on Lucy's face as she looks at the face of Father Christmas. Standing next to his sleigh with the back of it full of gifts, and reindeer standing and waiting for their next command.
"Happy Christmas sir." She says to him.
"That it is Lucy, well it is since your majesties arrived." He says with a smile.
"Look I've been through a lot." Susan says, a smile on her face.
"We thought you were the witch." I say feeling excitement build inside me.
"Yes well, in my defence I have been riding one of these, far longer than the witch." He says with a warm smile.
"I thought there was no Christmas in Narnia?" Peter asked.
