We watched as Aslan slowly made his way towards a large stone table, I could tell there was something written on it but I was too far away to read it. As Aslan walked many different dark creatures surrounded him, each snarling and shouting at him, Aslan however remained still apart from the occasional snarl at his tormentors. He then began to make his way forward towards the stone table, where the white witch was waiting holding a large sharp blade.
"Behold, the great Lion." The white witch said while laughter followed.
Lucy was holding onto my arm tightly as we watched Aslan, I could still feel the tears falling down my cheeks as I watched everything. A large Minotaur made his way over to Aslan and poked him with the end of a large axe, then with a nod from the white witch the Minotaur slammed the axe into Aslan causing him to fall to the ground.
"Why isn't he stopping them?" Lucy questioned in a whisper.
I couldn't even answer her, so I simply shook my head.
"You want some milk?" A dwarf said mocking Aslan.
"Bind him!" The white witch instructed as her minions ran at Aslan with thick black ropes. "Wait."
Looking down at him the white witch smirked as the ropes were tied around him.
"Let him first be shaved." She said as a dwarf ran forward, blade in hand and sliced off a section of his mane.
With a triumphant cry others began to slice off Aslan's golden mane, I could feel the tears continue to fall down my cheeks as I watched the scene unfold. Why did they have to humiliate him? They were already planning on killing him!
"Aslan..." I whispered.
"Bring him to me!" The white witch commanded.
Her minions then began to drag Aslan across the stone floor up to the stone table, where he was finally tied down. The white witch then towered over him holding her blade, she then swung her arm out silencing the cries and yells of her warriors. And then the drums began, I could feel Lucy and Susan hold onto me tightly as the wolves howled and the monsters cried out. I then noticed the white witch lean down and whisper something to Aslan, who's eyes then went wide.
"Tonight! The deep magic, will be appeased!" She cried. "But tomorrow, we will take Narnia FOREVER!"
With her war cry the drums began to intensify in speed and sound, and I could feel my heart rate increasing with every passing second.
"And in that knowledge, despair." She said raising her blade high. "And....DIE!" She cried slamming the blade down on Aslan, then with a final sigh, Aslan's eyes rolled back inside his head.
Lucy began to cry so I pulled her close to shield her from witnessing any more.
"The great cat! IS DEAD!" The white witch cried surrounded by cheers from her people. "General, prepare your troops for battle."
And with that he Minotaur roared loudly and left with the other soldiers and the white witch, leaving Aslan alone in the cold. Once they were gone and I knew it was safe, we made our way over to him. Lucy was the one who got there first, and quickly began to fumble with her healing cordial.
"It's too late." Susan said softly. "He's gone."
With that Lucy broke down again and hugged Susan tightly, I sat down next to Aslan and began to stroke his face.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you." I said softly.
"Get away." Susan called. "Get away all of you."
Looking over I noticed mice all along Aslan's body, I was about to chase them away but then noticed what they were doing.
"No, look." I said pointing to the mice.
They worked away at the ropes which bound Aslan, biting them and chewing them until they fell off him. Lucy then moved to my side and pulled the binds from his face, I then removed the blade from his side and wiped the final tears from my cheeks.
"We need to let the others know, they need to prepare for the battle." I said turning to Lucy and Susan.
"We can't just leave him." Lucy whispered still stroking Aslan's face, and then it hit me.
"The trees." I said walking towards a nearby tree. "I need you to take a message to Edmund and Peter, let them know that Aslan was killed by the white witch and she is preparing for battle. The battle will happen tomorrow." I whispered watching the leaves fall and float away towards the camp.
I then made my way back over to Lucy and Susan, with Aslan's final words to me ringing in my ears.
Protect them in my absence
Taking a deep breath I whispered on the wind for a horse to come to the stone table, then I turned to Susan and Lucy.
"I need to go back to the camp, Aslan told me to protect you all in his absence. So I need to do that, what are you going to do?" I said softly.
"I want to stay here." Lucy said wiping tears from her cheeks.
With a nod Susan walked towards me and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Stay safe." She whispered into my ear.
With a nod I turned to the sound of hooves coming towards us, Lucy and Susan were nervous but I knew it was the horse I had asked for. The horse her self was white with hints of grey getting darker towards her back legs, light feathering on her hooves and a light grey mane and tail.
"Thank you for coming." I said to the horse reaching my hand out to stroke her face.
"It's my pleasure to become your steed your highness." The horse said softly. "My name is Destiny."
I smiled and climbed on Destiny's back, then with a final nod to Susan and Lucy I rode back to the camp. By the time I arrived everyone was awake and beginning to make preparations for the upcoming war, Destiny took me to Peer and Edmund who were with Oreius putting together a battle plan. Dismounting I made my way over to them and was engulfed in hugs.
"Where are Lucy and Susan?" Peter asked.
"They are still with Aslan, Lucy didn't want to leave him." I explained.
With a sad nod I looked at the battle plan.
"So, what are we going to do?"
