The next morning I wake to a warm breeze blowing through the slightly open tent, sitting up I run outside to see not a single trace of snow. Fresh green grass covered most of the camp, flowers cover the rest, the sky is a clear blue with not a single cloud, standing with a smile on my face I step out onto the grass. The cool feeling of the grass between my toes relaxing me, and making me feel happy. One of the female fawns from yesterday comes over to wish me good morning, then she helps me to dress in a light pink dress which ends at my knees. Light brown boots clad my feet and my sword and bow sit in their usual places, my hair today has been left in a loose braid hanging down my back with cherry blossoms woven through it.
"Thank you very much." I say to her as another fawn brings me eggs and toast.
After eating I step outside, seeing a ledge not too far away from the camp I walk over to it and sit down. Letting the warm air tickle my shoulders, looking towards the sea however I notice a castle. Large and shining proudly I can't help but want to know what it is, but then I hear a horn play. Confused I stand up and look towards the entrance of the camp, tears fill my eyes as I see the familiar faces of my family and the beavers walking towards the main tent. Running from my current spot I run down from the bank and stand close to the large tent at the centre of the camp, the tears fall down my cheeks as I lock eyes with them.
"Lizzie!" Lucy cries and comes running into my arms.
Holding her tightly I smile at Susan and she pulls me into a hug, then finally I hug Peter. He holds onto me tightly and I hold onto him, the thought of possibly never seeing them all again was too much to handle.
"I thought we lost you." He says holding onto me.
"You can't get rid of me that easily." I say smiling at him.
Kneeling down I hug Mr and Mrs Beaver who both seem equally happy that I managed to survive the river, then we turn to face the tent where Oreius stands as guard. Standing with my brother and sisters again I watch as Peter pulls out his sword and holds it forward, standing tall he calls out.
"We have come to see Aslan." He says if a little nervously.
Looking back I notice everyone bowing down including Oreius, with my heart pounding in my ears the tent flaps quiver slightly before Aslan emerges. My heart swells as I look at him, he's a proud lion with a golden fur and rich brown eyes. Following everyone else we bow down to him.
"Welcome Peter Son of Adam, welcome Elizabeth, Susan and Lucy Daughters of Eve. And welcome to you Beavers, you have my thanks." He says in a rich calm voice. "But where is the fifth?"
Taking a deep breath we all stand up.
"That's what we've come here for sir." Peter says returning his sword to its rightful place.
"Our brother has been captured by the white witch." I say to him.
"Captured? How did this happen?" Aslan asks.
Peter and I both look at each other, not really sure how to explain what happened.
"He.." Mr Beaver says. "Betrayed them your majesty."
"Then he has betrayed us all!" Oreius yells annoyed.
"Peace Oreius, I'm sure there's an explanation." Aslan says calming him down.
"It's my fault, I was too hard on him." Peter says hanging his head.
"Sir he's our brother..." Lucy says slipping her hand into mine.
"I know dear one, and that makes the betrayal all the worse." He says. "But for now you must rest, and we will find your brother."
After being dismissed by Aslan I lead Lucy and Susan to our tent while Oreius leads Peter to his, once inside they both ask me millions of questions.
"When did you get here?" Susan asks as she looks through her trunk.
"About late morning, early afternoon yesterday." I explain. "Oreius pulled me out of the river and brought me here, since then I've just been doing a little practice."
"Practice?" Lucy questions pulling our a blue dress.
"With my sword, I wanted to leave my bow to dry out a little more before I take it out for practice." I say picking up my bow and looking through the arrows, each strong and now bone dry.
Susan walks over to me and sits down next to me, leaning her head against my shoulder with Lucy doing the same on the other side. A warm feeling spreads through me as I pull them close to me, then I get an idea.
"You two finish getting dressed, there's a small stream that's a quiet place to talk. And it's a wonderful day now the sun's come out, let's go on a picnic." I say smiling.
Once they're dressed I ask a dwarf if he knows somewhere that I can get some light snacks, immediately he goes and comes back with a large basket full of delights. Thanking him I lead Susan and Lucy to the stream, after setting up I sit down happily as Lucy and Susan dip their toes in the water.
"It's been so long since I've had a new dress like this, mother would like it." I say smiling as I take off my own shoes and join them.
"We should bring her some, a whole trunk full!" Lucy suggests.
"If we ever get back." Susan says with a longing in her voice, I rest my hand on her shoulder as she shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I never used to be like this. We used to have a lot of fun."
"Yeah, we did." I say with a smile.
"Before you got boring!" Lucy exclaims with a laugh.
Susan smirks and then uses her hands to splash Lucy, who then retaliates and then they both join together to splash me. After a couple of minutes of splashing I suggest that we see what's in the basket that we were given, climbing onto the bank Susan reaches out to a towel that I hung on a tree to dry her self off. However she pulls it back to reveal Maugrim and another two wolves, the three of us scream backing up as they get closer to us.
"Come on now, we're tired and we don't want any trouble." He says.
I look over to where my sword is resting against the tree, Susan then looks in the opposite direction at her horn. We both then look at each other and nod, I pull a towel over the wolf as Lucy climbs a tree and Susan blows on her horn. Giving her a leg up I pull out my sword, taking a deep breath I focus on the wolves.
"Well look here, thought we had succeeded in getting rid of one of you." Maugrim says with a snarl. "That river should have killed you."
"It's only by the grace of Aslan that I'm still here, and prepared to end you." I say holding my sword tightly. "Now let's settle this once and for all."
"Leave them alone!" Peter yells running over, his own sword drawn. "Lizzie get up that tree!" He commands me.
With the wolves focused on him I climb up next to Lucy and Susan, the wolves soon begin to circle Peter snarling and snapping their jaws at him. Aslan and other Narnian warriors reach us soon, I can see that Oreius wants to fight but Aslan stops him.
"Stay your weapons, this is Peter's battle." Aslan instructs.
"Come on!" Maugrim yells taunting Peter. "We've already been through this once."
"Don't listen to him Pete!" I call holding onto my sword to fight if needed.
"You're nothing but a coward." Maugrim says lowering him self into a pounce. "And you're going to die, like a dog!" He yells and pounces at Peter.
Us three scream and I jump down quickly to try and pull the wolf off Peter, Susan and Lucy then come and help me as we push the dead wolf off Peter. He sits up shocked at what he's done but then pulls us all into a tight hug.
"Follow him, he'll lead you to Edmund." Aslan says as my eyes follow the other wolf. "Elizabeth you shall go with them."
As Oreius gallops towards me he extends his hand pulling me onto his back, I grab my bow and quiver with my other free hand and then hold on tightly as we follow the wolf.
"Don't worry Edmund, we're coming."
