Chapter 2

"Most of the time in life we feel like what feels better may be better for us, but in reality, it's usually the complete opposite. Sometimes you have to let go of what feels good and go find what's good for you"

It was Saturday night at 11 o'clock. I was in my pajamas watching Netflix. Just as I was about to toss another piece of popcorn in my mouth I listened to noise at my window. I sat there and attempted to act as if I didn't hear it. Then unexpectedly I hear tapping on my window. I grabbed my pillow and headed toward the window prepared for the worst of the worst. As soon as I was about to move the curtains I heard someone say something.

" Aaliyah opened the window damn, it's freezing out here. If I wanted everyone to know I was out here I would've knocked on the door." Jasmine muttered while glancing at me impatiently through the window while rubbing her arms.

"What the hell are you doing—wait what do you have on?"

I looked her up and down confused as to why she looked as if she was a stripper of some type.

"Remember I told you we were going to a party, remember?"

"I seriously can't be with you right now! Do you even know what time it is? If my mom wakes up she's going to kill both of us." I whispered loudly while sitting on my bed shaking my head in disbelief.

"Will you get ready to please and hurry because Jamon is outside waiting for us." She started making her way back out the window onto the ledge.

" I'll be waiting out here until you're ready." She blew a kiss and proceeded to climb out the window.

I didn't know if I should go or just stay home because parties weren't my thing. I knew if I had said no then I would feel bad and regret not going with her. After 10 minutes of deciding if I wanted to go or not I finally put on my dress and makeup. I climbed out onto the ledge quietly. Once I reached the car I saw Jamon and Jasmine grinning widely.

"I'm glad you decided to join us, now let's go enjoy the party!" Jamon exclaimed while driving off, turning the radio up loudly. "Hey, Aaliyah if you don't mind sliding over I have one more person to pick up".

We pulled into this gated, expensive-looking neighborhood with tall fences and each of them had swimming pools in their backyards. We pulled up in front of a house with two guys talking and both of them had hoodies on. One of them was holding a black bag and the other was holding cash. They switched and the one who was now holding the bag started walking towards the car. He opened the car door and sat down beside me after putting the bag in the trunk. He took his hoodie and I had realized it was that asshole Tylen from school the other day.

"Wow, not you again," I said while rolling my eyes.

"I guess you can say the feeling is mutual," he muttered while putting in his headphones.

The closer we got to the party the music began to get louder and I started to feel queasy. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I've never felt uneasy before going to a party. It was just something about this party that came across as wrong. I felt it before even getting there. Jasmine glanced back at me from the front seat and passed me a cup.

"Here, drink this, it will make you feel better I promise. Also please don't disappear on me like you did last time. I don't expect to go looking for you again like last time."

"Jasmine? Last time I had to go back because my mom was waking up."

"Yeah! I hear ya!"

"Eww, what is this?" I started to gag after drinking whatever was in the cup.
