The four of us pulled apart and I went back to holding Kane's hand. Nate and Sabrina while Mrs. Donovan held Kane's other hand.
"So how did Kane crash anyways?" Sabrina asked. I totally forgot to ask that! "Actually, a boy who went to school with you crashed into him head on," she answered. "He claims he did it on purpose too. He said it was to get revenge. The motive I don't know."
"That bastard!" Nate exclaimed as his fist collided with the wall. "Nate, calm down," Sabrina soothed. How can that girl stay so calm in a time like this? Nate's face softened and he sat back down.
Then out of nowhere... BAM! A thought struck me like lightning. It wasn't a pretty thought.
"Mrs. Donovan?" I called. "Please, call me Kate," she told me. I nodded my head and prayed Kate's answer to the question I'm about to ask is different than mine.
"What's the boy's name?" I asked. Sabrina and Nate glanced at me. They knew exactly what I was thinking.
"Jackson Winters," Kate answered. "He's going to be in jail for ten years."
Even though I wished very badly to be wrong, I was right.
