"Hey, Doug, we're here," Tom called softly once we pulled into a parking lot.
"Wait," I whispered.
"What," Tom whispered back, leaning towards me more. Our faces were inches apart and I could feel his soft breaths on my nose.
"Yell on the count of three," I instructed. Tom smirked, seeming to agree to my idea. "One... two... three-" Tom and I yelled as loud as we could. Doug woke up screaming, jolted forward, and hit his head on Tom's headrest.
"What the- HEY!" Tom and I couldn't stop laughing and were on the verge of tears. "YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT!"
"Time to go, (Y/n)!" Tom and I exited the car as fast as we could and made sure to close our doors to slow down Doug.
"Run!" I managed to yell. Tom grabbed my hand as we ran into the school. Doug had just managed to exit the mustang and start his pursuit when Tom and I made it onto the building. My lungs were burning from lack of air and laughter. I couldn't tell where we were running to, but Tom's large, warm hand guided me through the busy halls. He was laughing too; it was a deep, smooth rumble that reminded me of my father's laugh. Tom rounded a corner and leaned against a wall to catch his breath. I did the same.
"I can't feel my legs," I laughed out.
"Doug's got to be pissed," Tom said. I looked over at him, and as soon and we made eye contact, the laughing fit began again.
"The look on his face!"
"I'm glad someone else likes to mess around with Doug. I won't be the only one anymore!" We laughed and laughed for what seemed like hours, but in reality was only a few seconds.
"We should probably head to class," I said after we had calmed down a bit.
"You're right," Tom agreed. "How are your legs?"
"I still can't feel them," I said chuckling.
"Hmmm. How about a piggyback ride?"
"Don't you think we're a bit old for piggyback rides?"
"No one's too old for piggyback rides. Besides, I can't remember the last time I laughed this much. I owe you," he insisted.
I thought about it for a second. "It would be nice to have a piggyback ride. Put me down if I'm too heavy."
"I'll take it that's a yes?"
"Why not?"
"Alright. Just a warning, I'm known to give some of the best piggyback rides," he said while moving in front of me and slightly squatting. His jeans didn't leave much to the imagination.
"Says who?" I asked while moving closer behind him. I placed my hands on his shoulders.
"That's for me to know and you to find out. Jump on the count of three. One, two-"
"Three!" I said jumping onto his back. His strong hands hooked behind my knees and my arms hung loosely around his neck. My front was pressed against his warm back. I have no idea how Tom can be so warm all the time. "I'm not too heavy, am I?"
"Oh please, you're like a feather," he joked.
"Ha ha," I said sarcastically. "Let's get going. God knows that Mr. Baker will loose his marbles if Doug's in class and we're not."
"We wouldn't want that, now would we?"
Tom began walking through the mostly empty hallways to Mr. Baker's class. We were on the opposite side of the school so we, or more specifically Tom, still had a ways to walk.
