After awhile, Tom and I eventually separated. I thanked him for comforting me and we proceeded to talk about what Tom was like when he first joined the Jump Street program.
"Your hair was flat?! Really?!"
Tom chuckled. "Yeah. Judy had a fit about it."
"I can't imagine you without poofy hair. You must have been such a goody two shoes," I joked.
"I was," he replied while rubbing the back of his neck shyly.
"No kidding."
"Sorry that took so long. You would not believe the line I had to wait in," Doug said sliding back into his seat.
"It's alright, Doug," I assured.
...
Doug, Tom, and I continued to talk over drinks about what they were first like when they joined the program. I learned a lot about the two of them; they're like brothers. Maybe that's why its so easy for them to become the McQuaid brothers. We left the bar around 11:00pm and headed home.
...
"Charles, I'm home," I called.
There was no response.
"Charles?" I called while walking into the living room. He wasn't there either so I checked the kitchen. There was no sign of him anywhere.
He must be asleep, I reasoned. I walked into our shared bedroom but didn't see him sleeping in our bed. I didn't see him anywhere. It was strange, but I reasoned that he must still be out talking with the neighbors. I was tired so I decided to head to bed. After all, Tom and Doug said I might have a new case tomorrow.
...
I woke up at around 3 in the morning to the sound of the shower running. Charles must be back, I thought. It's odd that he's taking a shower though. He usually showers in the morning.
...
I woke up around 5:30am, took a shower, and headed to the kitchen after getting dressed and putting on some light makeup. Charles wasn't in the kitchen like he normally is, however, there was a note attached to the fridge.
I got called in early today. I'll see you later tonight. Have a good day at work!
-Charles
I made myself a bagel and cut some fruit for my breakfast, then left the apartment. I decided to ride my motorcycle to work today, so I made sure to grab my helmet. I drove through the somewhat familiar roads to the chapel then parked my motorcycle next to Tom's mustang. I dismounted my bike and climbed the stairs of the chapel.
"Mornin', (Y/n)," Judy said as soon as I entered the main floor.
"Good morning, Judy," I replied.
"Fuller wants you in his office ASAP," Judy informed me.
"Okay, thanks!"
I put my helmet in the bottom drawer of my desk and hung up my jacket on the shared jacket stand, then made my way to the Captain's office. His door was open when I approached his office, and I could Tom's voice. I knocked on the door frame twice before I entered the office.
"(Y/n), good morning," Fuller greeted.
"Morning," I responded. Tom was already seated in the right chair, so I sat in the left chair. "What's up?"
"I was just explaining to Tom that you two have a new case," Fuller stated.
"Oh, wow. Already? That was fast," I expressed.
