Leo's Pov
"So, you have a meeting with your father this evening. I've already gathered all the files and financial reports that you'll need" Salia hummed handing me a folder.
"Thank you," I said taking it from her.
"You also have an appointment with your therapist after that. Would you like me to reschedule? It's a tight fit" she asked.
"No, I don't want to skip sessions" I sighed.
"Yes sir" she muttered.
"Salia go take a break. You've been helping me all morning. I know that your kind of tired" I told her.
"I'm fine sir. Really" she argued.
"I'm serious. You are great at your job so, consider this an award. Please" I stated.
"Okay then. I'll be right back" Salia whispered before walking out.
When she was gone, I began to skim over the file she had given me. In the middle of it, I heard a knock on my door and someone wall in.
"You look busy" Xavier hummed as he strolled into my office.
"Important meeting. What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I wanted to see how you were doing" he breathed.
"Thank you but, I'm okay" I replied turning around to put the file on my desk.
"I'm happy to hear that. I was worried about you" he admitted.
"No need to be" I muttered.
"Well I care about you and I've seen how a bad mood can change into something way worse, quick," he told me.
"Truthfully, I am in a better place. Therapy is working and I'm now focused on myself for the moment. Though I'm glad to know I have a friend here" I mumbled.
"No problem. I'm going to head out. I have a lunch date" he breathed smiling.
"Have fun" I responded before giving him a hug. I was about to pull away when I heard my door open.
"What the fuck?!?!" Jaysean snapped staring at me.
Stepping away from Xavier, I looked over at where he was standing by the entrance. He looked pissed. It had been a couple of days since I told Jay I needed space. I wasn't ready to back together with him. I couldn't trust him enough to be in a relationship.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"What you doing hugging this nigga?" he argued.
"I'm gonna talk to you later Leo" Xavier spoke. I nodded and watched him leave. Jaysean stared him down the whole way.
"You can't just show up at my job like this" I groaned once we were alone.
"Who was that?" Jaysean questioned.
"A friend" I answered.
"Thought you didn't know anyone up here" he scoffed.
"You don't get to question me. We aren't together anymore" I grumbled annoyed.
"And who's fault is that? I didn't want to break up" he told me.
"Because you can't seem to stay away from females! I understand your bi but, every time something happens between us you go and fuck with a woman" I spat.
"So would it be better if they were men?" he retorted.
"No, it would be better if I could trust you!" I snapped and you would have thought I had physically hurt him.
"You don't trust me?" he muttered.
"Not like I used to. Too much has happened since I've gotten here" I responded.
"You don't trust me, that's funny. I'm not the one that took damn near seven months to say I love you. Lied about it and then told me again. You broke up with me because you couldn't face your own damn emotions" Jaysean growled glaring at me.
"Yeah, I did but you can't even stand up to your homophobic ass mother. You just stand there and ignore her sly ass comments. God forbid she accepts that her son fucks men" I said rolling my eyes.
"I have talked to her" he countered.
"And that hasn't solved anything. I can't trust you not to go out, get high, and sleep with whomever. To stand up to your mother and put her in her damn place, which isn't in our relationship. This is why we aren't together" I explained.
"No, we aren't together because you are a bitch. Too scared to really be with me, to let me love you. You don't want to be weak but, not being able to admit that we belong together is the weakest shit I've ever seen" he sighed.
"Jaysean-" I began but, stopped when I noticed someone standing in my doorway.
"Please, carry on. I want to hear whatever stupid thing is about to leave both of your mouths next" my mom snapped her eyes moving between the both of us.
"Mom-" I breathed but, she cut me off.
"Leonardo, we need to talk" she stated and I just nodded because I already knew it wasn't up for debate. She had flown all the way up here and I knew that it wasn't for anything good. She was about to rain Texan hell all over the place.
