[64] 12 weeks

Today marks the 12-week mark in my pregnancy and is also the day of my 12-week scan. I'm really excited as this time I'll be able to hear the baby's heartbeat and finally see something on the screen.

Today Enzo is coming to the scan with me, he's also really excited about seeing the baby for what for him will be the first time.

Since Enzo found out about the baby we have been in constant contact, he's always checking on me to see if I need anything or if there is anything he can do for me which I find really sweet.

It took Papa a little while to get used to the idea Enzo would be coming around and we'd be spending time together to talk about things and make plans for the baby, but eventually, he came around, or Mum made him come around, I'm not sure which.

While Enzo and I are not back together and I haven't fully forgiven him we are still very close. Sometimes he spends the night and watches movies or just hang out, and lots of nights he makes late-night runs to the store to get things for my cravings, even when he's not spending the night.

I make my way downstairs dressed in a simple black top and some shorts. My hair is out in its usual state and I'm wearing minimal make-up like usual.  When I reach the living room and am about to announce myself when I hear Enzo talking with Mum, the two of them sitting together on the couch 

"Is it normal to feel excited?" Enzo asks her with a grin 

"Oh definitely, I was so excited with both Andre and Mia. You'd think by the second baby it would be a little less exciting but it wasn't especially finding out the sex and hearing the heartbeat, all the things you have to look forward to." She smiles back at him

"Mia said we'll get to hear the heartbeat today, it's a little early to find out the sex though isn't it?" 

"A little, I mean they could tell you but they don't like to this soon, it's usually at the sixteen to eighteen-week mark they can be a bit clearer." 

"Well, I hope Mia will allow me to be at that scan with her as well." 

"Of course I will," I speak from behind them. Both of them turning their attention to me instantly 

"Hey, how long have you been standing there?" Enzo smiles softly 

"Just now." I lie with a small back "Are you ready to go? We're going to miss the appointment." 

"Yeah of course." He stands to his feet quickly and makes his way over to me. "Uh, thanks for the talk Alena, I appreciate it." he smiles in her direction 

"Any time." She waves back 

"Let's go." Enzo places his hand on the small of my back and leads me back out to the foyer and out the front to his car.

We arrive at the hospital on time and check-in, after taking a seat it was only a few minutes before the same nurse from last time, Nurse Julie called me down and we made our way into the ultrasound room. Like last time she made small talk as she got me all set up for the scan. 

Five minutes pass and Dr. Young makes her way into the room. "Hello again Mia." She smiles at me. Her eyes then move over to Enzo. "You must be Dad, I'm Doctor young." 

"Hi Doctor Young, yes, this is Enzo my fian, uh the baby's father as you said." I smile 

"Move on in closer Enzo you won't see much from over there" she gives him a welcoming smile 

Enz makes his way over until he is standing at the side of the bed next to me. I smile up at him for a moment and he smiles back, I then turn my attention back to the screen. Doctor Young begins the scan, moving the wand around my stomach and watches the screen herself. She stops at a certain point and then another, then moves it around a little more.
