It's been a few days since Enzo and I found out where expecting twins and today is the day I would have been walking down the aisle to become Mrs. Moretti. If I'm honest with myself I am feeling a little sad this morning as I wake up alone, but it'll soon pass I'm sure.
Because Enzo's parents had already booked flights and accommodation to attend the now-canceled wedding they decided to come for a holiday. They arrived last night and Enzo picked them up from the airport taking them back to the hotel accommodation they're staying in. Enzo offered them to stay with him, but they wanted us to have our space.
Tonight I'm having dinner with the three of them at Enzo's place and I'm really looking forward to it, Enzo's parents are lovely people and they're so excited to become grandparents.
His parents know what went down with him and I and while they're still very upset with him, they're happy we're still going to be in each other lives and the babies will grow up knowing how much we both love them, together or not.
Dressed in a lightweight sweater and some tights, I make my way up the front steps of what was once my home, I raise my hand and ring the doorbell. A moment later Enzo opens the door dressed in his sweat pants, with no shirt, his body still as perfect as ever.
"Mia" he says surprised "Why didn't you use your key? You don't have to ring the bell."
"I uh, I left the key with you when I left it's in the top draw in the bedroom," I tell him truthfully
He holds the door open and I make my way inside. "Well remind me to get it for you before you leave because this is still your home, you don't need to ring the bell or knock."
I give him a small smile and nod my head unsure of what to make of it all.
"What are you doing here so early anyway?"
"Well I thought you might like a hand in the kitchen, but if you don't need my assistance I can always leave." I tease him playfully as I raise a brow
"If there is one thing I know for sure, I'll always need you." He grins back "I was just getting dinner started so your help would be much appreciated."
...
We spend the morning and into the afternoon cooking up a storm in the kitchen, there was also a lot of laughs shared as we acted like our usual playful selves, joking with each other, teasing one another, even a little bit of flirting. For a moment I almost forgot about everything that had happened.
With the last dish placed in the oven and the timer set for an hour I lean against the bench and let out a yawn.
"Have I wore you out?" Enzo smirks
"Mmm, something like that." I giggle softly looking up at him.
"You look exhausted, why don't you go and have a sleep before Mama and Papa arrive."
"Do I have time?" I look towards the clock.
"They won't be here for another hour at least, so yes."
"Are you sure you don't need me to do anything else? What about the dishes?"
"I'll do them, you go and lay down."
"I'll just help you a little and then I'll go." I make my way over to the sink
"Mia." He grabs me by the waist and pulls me back to him gently. "God damn it you're so stubborn you know that."
"Mmm, you've told me once or twice." I grin up at him.
"Bed, now." He says in a stern voice.
I roll my eyes playfully and he shakes his head with a grin. "Alright, you asked for it." He picks me up and heads for the bedroom.
