ADORA P.O.V:
On the first day of my second job, Alicia made breakfast. We realised we are eating too much pancakes so we switched to the sunny-side egg laying on my dish with fruit-salad and raw spinach juice. Alicia and I proceeded with our journey to the university in a casual outfit and cracking jokes making each other laugh.
We bid good-bye before leaving for our class and then our work. We don't have enough time to hangout after class, none of us feel bad about it. We are room-mates, we see each other a lot anyway.
My boss gave me Instructions on our clothing. We are supposed to wear a uniform. The uniform is not ugly, just too feminine for my liking. The colour is pink with white collar and sleeves. The uniform though matches with the theme of the cafe, i.e anime. Apparently, the owner is from Japan and is quite known in Japan. She wants to expand her business. She has cafes in Japan with western themes and here in Japanese themes. The cafe I'm working at would be her second cafe in this country.
Surprisingly, many geeks and nerds love to visit this cafe. The owner is smart to install the action figures and comics of the anime in the store to attract an audience. For marketing, she paid cosplayers to promote her cafe which helped her gain more audience. The food needs to be cute similar to the dishware or tableware. Gladly, I'm not in the cooking section and serving section.
I was visited with two recognizable faces from the Interview. Apparently, these two boys, Lucas Brown and Noah Carter were appointed to do the serving in the cafe. Amusingly, they hated the uniform more than I did. Soon, the clock ticked the time-to-leave for home. We bid goodbye to each other and went on our way home.
Alicia and I reached home with five-minutes apart. She was first to be home. Alicia initiated conversation after we both were freshen up and were at the kitchen cooking dinner.
'How was your first day?',
'Lousy, the cafe is new. It will take time to settle specially with the uniform',
The laughter erupted from the side of Alicia, I glanced at Alicia to figure out the reason for her laugh. She cleared my confusion by saying 'Sorry, hearing the word uniform bought me the Image of your uniform. You are fortunate to look cute in the uniform. Afterall, you have a pretty face'. I nodded in agreement.
'There are two boys in the cafe who work as a waiter. They came for the Interview on the same day as I did. I was able to recognize them. They both are quite good-looking fellas with a charming personality and good sense of humour. Yet, the uniform looked funny on them and they hated it. We are fortunate to have a polite manager, Mr. Michale Barnes. One of our cooks is a sassy woman, Mrs. Daisy Atkinson. I believe and I hope I won't face problems here'.
'You won't face the same problem and If you do, you call me Adora'.
'Nothing to doubt about that. I'm super happy about my income and working hours. The cafe and the owner are known. Whether to have a reputation or to protect her reputation or maybe she is a nice human being, she is offering a good wage to her staff. My manager left the old job because the payment was better here. The working hours are convenient and so is the distance'.
'Adora, the rejection from the company was better. This job is more convenient and helpful based on the fact that you are also a student and need to focus on your education. You have a better pay, the cafe is close to the university and the home and your co-workers sound like good people'.
'You spoke the truth. I may have hated working as a secretary and may have left within months due to the stress. No wonder, they didn't choose me. They knew well'. With that sentence, our conversation ended.
We ate our dinner while watching our favourite show 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S'. We ended up watching for two hours and realised we were past midnight as we yawned. We went to our rooms and called it a night.
