ADORA P.O.V.:
'Good morning', I greeted my best-friend and my room-mate, Alicia Smith. She's been my best friend since high-school, I remember I was all new because my father got a new job, we had to shift to a new place. It was not very difficult for me to leave the old place, I have always been a very shy personality, I had friends in school but I was not very close to anyone. My schedule was to go to school, focus on my Taekwondo practice, goofing around and then back to home. I hardly went out unless I'm going out with my parents and siblings, my siblings used to tease me so much for being a dork yet they always say that i possess an unique personality.
I never understood them, my classmates used to say the same and so does my college buds. According to Alicia, i have a type of personality whom we can't put a tag on. 'I'm a dork but I'm cool too, I'm mature yet I'm reckless', her words, not mine. Portraying me have always been confusing for people, my family and for me too, they always end up saying 'I'm unique', and i end up saying 'I don't know, i can't describe', and me being weird take pride in it.
Belonging to a new place was slightly tricky. The only best part was, I had no one to miss except of course in my old place i was comfortable and no one judged me. Here, everything is new, people are new. For the first month, I always sat at the last bench of my class and didn't utter a word, people assumed me as an arrogant or too proud to talk or a freak. I was also shy to go for my Taekwondo practice. I was an athlete too and my father is very strict when it comes to exercise and diet, we hardly ever had junk at home, my father never liked lousy and lazy ones and he is very health and fitness conscious.
In the starting, i hardly went for my practice and my parents got to know about it. They were very angry but they understood my problem. Due to my circumstances, my father decided to embarrass me, he himself used to drop me and used to come to see my practice. That part made my situation worse, my school mates started teasing me by calling me baby although it stopped after my brother threatened them. People stopped, but I'm sure all of them started seeing me as a baby who lives under her parent's and sibling's shadow, they clearly made a judgement about me and the worst part was they stuck to it. Making friends became more difficult.
I don't know what was it and how did this happened, me and Alicia became friends. Once she was in the girl's room and i was there too, I heard someone crying and it turned out to be Alicia. She was crying because her boyfriend cheated on her and seeing her crying made me feel bad. Besides, it would be very rude and inhuman leaving someone as it is who is going through some problem. The best i could do is tell her good things about her. Oddly enough, I didn't know her then, she was my classmate and let me tell you, she happens to be the combination of hotness and cuteness, her father is a Canadian and her mother is a Korean, you can imagine her for being cute and hot at the same time. I could barely judge her based on her appearance and how she mannered in the class. Based on my little observation, i gave her few compliments to boost her confidence.
After consoling her, she felt good and seeing her being calm I didn't stay back and left which was weird. She understood my shy personality and during our lunch time she invited me to sit with her. For the first week i barely spoke but she was always calm and always initiated conversation, she also introduced me to her friends, slowly they helped me to open up which after a month or two i did and since then we became friends.
Lucky for me, we both got admission in the same university, she is doing Majors in cosmetology and I'm studying political science and economics. We of course have different majors, but we still decided to share a room. Our house is not big but it is big enough and comfortable for both of us. That's how we ended up being best friend for so long and current room-mates.
