Olivia leaned in and kissed him. That was answer enough. From that point on, they went on a few more dates, the park, the bar, at home. Things were going really well. The only hardship was the nightmare Olivia had been dealing with since childhood. They left her confused, upset, and she often couldn't distinguish these from reality. This became a problem when she would wake up screaming in the middle of the night and think Liam was a murder. He was very understanding about it though. He had never gotten the courage to ask her what they were about though.
Olivia woke up in a startle, she was breathing as fast as she could. She had to watch it again..... the recurring nightmare that always came. Liam looked at her with longing and concern.
"are you alright?" Liam stroked her cheek
"it was just.... a nightmare..." she was about to cry. the tears in her eyes threatening to spill onto her skin.
"I know that these are really hard for you and I want you to feel comfortable. Do you want to talk about it? It might make you feel better." he smiled lovingly, scooting her into his lap.
"When I was really young, as you know I went through a huge trauma and my home life was... it was difficult. It was only really me and my sisters against the world, I being the oldest, was in charge of watching Lacey and making sure she was entertained. So one day we decided to go on a walk... we ended up getting ourselves lost. A kind man came up to us telling us he knew our parents and would take us home.. I was only 9 at the time so I agreed. We got into his limo and there were guns on the floor. I started to panic and tried to pull Lacey with me as I ran but he caught us. I slipped away but he had lacey, I wasn't strong enough. So I left her. And we never saw her again. My other sister never spoke to me again and my parents blamed me for everything. I've been having nightmares about it ever since."
Liam wrapped his arms around her letting her cry on his shoulder. He tried to comfort her, but ultimately was useless in helping. "i-i uhh" he awkwardly patted her back. Olivia looked up at him trying not to laugh
"am I making you uncomfortable " she giggled
Liam nervously smiled "no, I love you and I will be here for you no matter what."
After that night they had become even closer. Weeks went on like this, happy times, laughing and going on missions. Angel had grown tired of this. Liam was supposed to be hers! It was time to do something drastic. Saturday morning Liam was sleeping in his room, tired from the mission the night before. Angel knew this and crept in.
"Rise and shine sweetie" Angel stroked his cheek and leaned in to kiss him.
Liam leaned into the kiss until he sprung awake realizing the mistake he had just made. "Angel? What the hell. Get out."
"Nu-uh uh sweet cheeks, I have a little proposition for you". Angel climbed onto the bed. "You need to dump that wretch now, break her heart, do whatever, but you are going to start sleeping with me. And before you say no. I did a little digging into Olivia's family, Lacey, right? Her sister? Does she know that your father was the one to kidnap her? Do you think she would ever forgive you if she found out you knew where her sister was this entire time?"
Liam sighed eyes full of sorrow knowing what he had to do, for her sake. "Fine, I'll play your stupid little game, but she cant know. It would hurt her even more."
Angel winked suddenly pouncing on top of him and pulling him into a passionate kiss. Just as she did that the door opened and a wide-eyed Olivia stood in the doorway.
"Oops" Angel giggled.
"Olivia.." Liam started to get up.
"I'm sorry you had to find out this way darling". Angel smiled sympathetically. "Were still friends right?"
"Olivia-" Liam was cut off by Olivia, finally working up the courage to speak.
"Spare me the speech Liam, I don't want to hear it". She walked away leaving behind a shocked Liam and locked herself away in her bathroom.
Liam shoved Angel aside running after her "Olivia, please it's not what it looks like!"
Angel came up behind him and whispered in his ear. "Remember we have a deal, don't screw this up or i'll make sure she hurts"
Olivia slumped to the floor the feeling of dread and despair reaching her. How could he do this to her? Up until then, everything had been going so well, these past 4 months had been the happiest she had ever been. The blackness came flooding back, embracing its old home. The thoughts of doubt, paranoia, the self-loathing, all the negatives swirled in her head.
